In the smoggy skies surrounding Robotropolis, a lone hoverunit shot through the air, heading towards the city. What distinguished this particular craft from the many others in the citiy's airspace was that, instead of the usual SWATbot crew, this one was crewed by a pair of mobians and one highly sophisticated android. "Now entering Robotropolis airspace Sally," Nicole reported from the pilot's seat. She'd been the one flying the craft since she could not only download the specs for it from its computer, but maintain a link up with said computer to let her react far faster than a regular mobian. "So I noticed..." Sally said quietly from the seat next to her. It hadn't been hard to figure out when they were getting close to the city. The change in the atmosphere had been so abrupt that she thought they'd flown into the edge of a storm at first, but then the barren landscape below them, and the forboding city ahead of them, gave it away. "...This is just...awful...that he could get away with things like this...city," she said to herself, unable to think of more appropriate terms for some things, "And I thought we had problems with our Robotnik..."

"Yup," Bunnie responded sullenly, staring out the windshield at the disheveled buildings that began to pass under them. "It wudn't always this way. Used to be the purdiest city ya'll'd evah laid eyes on 'bout ten years ago." The rabbit clasped her hands together tightly, and if one paid close enough attention they'd see her occasionally wring them out of nervousness. Her concern for Tails was overwhelming. She knew every second that passed was one less the boy could spare, and the amount of time it had taken them to get this far toward rescuing him... she just couldn't shake the feeling of dread she felt. If only Sonic were there.

"It's like Oil Ocean on our world...only on a bigger scale," Sally said to herself, then her expression turned serious. "Ok, enough remincing. Where will we probably find Tails?" she asked Bunnie.

"There," the rabbit answered, pointing out toward the heart of the city. There, easily dwarfing the surroundings buildings, rose an oddly egg-shaped structure. Like a weed burrowing into a once-pristine garden, hundreds of what appeared like massive sized wires sprouted from its base in every direction, cross-crossing their way intricately through the rest of the worn down city. "That's the main fortress. He'll definitely be in the jail there," she said, before reluctantly adding, " If we ain't too late."

"We won't be..." Sally said, mostly to herself. "Nicole, you heard her, take us in." "Right Sally," Nicole responded, beginning their decent towards the command building. "Ok..." Sally said as she did a quick inspection of her blaster, "What's our best means of infiltration?"

"Air ducts usually," Bunnie answered, "They go all through the buildin' and usually ain't monitored."

Sally nodded. "All right then, Nicole?" Nicole nodded, bringing the hoverunit in to slowly circle the command building before stopping to hover next to a large circular vent cover on the side of the building. Sally quickly hopped out of her seat and went back to pop open the hatch. She looked at the vent cover for a moment then looked back and regarded Bunnie, or more specifically, her arm. "I don't suppose you'd be able to get the door?" she asked.

"Sure can," giving her arm a few rotations as she approached the vent and latched onto one of its bars. Grunting, she gave it a few good yanks, ripping the cover off and holding it up over her head. "After ya'll,"

"All right then," Sally said as she readied her blaster, "You'd better lead the way," she told Bunnie, then looked towards Nicole. "Nicole, keep the ship safe until we call for you, we'll probably need it for a fast getaway..."

"Righty," Bunnie nodded, dropping the vent cover and hopping inside. Onward she lead the agent through the maze of air ducts; leading to the best of her memory toward where the prison unit was located. Awhile later they finally reached their destination, and Bunnie peered out through the grate to be sure no sure no guards were on patrol before ripping away the vent cover and hopping down. "Just through that door ahead," she said, pointing toward the entrance down the hall.

Sally just nodded, then took point as they scurried down the hall, Sally keeping her blaster at the ready. She paused a moment at the door before she rolled inside, sweeping her aim around the room, ready to take out any guards that might be there...

The room, however, was empty of guards. Realizing this, Bunnie's fur bristled. There were always guards when a prisoner was being held. The only times she'd ever known there not to be... Quickly she dashed off past Sally, checking each cell as she passed by them. She felt her heart plummet; All of them... empty. " Oh mah stars..."

Sally closed her eyes in a prolonged wince as she confirmed what Bunnie had already seen. "We're too late...aren't we?" she asked in a defeated voice.

Her fists tightened, and Bunnie shook her head vigorously. Charging off toward the exit, she snatched Sally by the arm and gave her a hard tug. " Come on!"

"Erk!" Sally grunted as Bunnie nearly yanked her off her feet. But she quickly got up to speed as she followed the rabbit, hoping that there was still a chance they could pull this off.

Bunnie never spoke another word the rest of the way, nor did she bother to slow down. Her eyes were filled with determination as she practically dragged Sally along the path that lead from the prison unit to the roboticization chamber. If she could be pulled out of that awful machine, then by golly, there was still a chance! She only prayed her legs would be fast enough and that they would spot any sign of him on the way. By the time they reached that dreaded room, the rabbit was struggling not to shake from nerves, silently remembering the last instance something like this had happed and what it had lead to. She pulled in a deep breath to steady herself as they approached the door, and she broke her hold on Sally's wrist and began to slow. As the door opened the first thing she noticed was just how quiet it was. As she quickly, but quietly crept along beside machinery in the room, she peered out toward the roboticizer itself. Nothing. The room was empty. The tears were immediate.

Sally just stood near the entrance to the room, already knowing from Bunnie's expression that they were too late. She sighed and ground her teeth in fustration. Why did it seem that she was always messing up lately? She looked over Bunnie's shoulder, looking towards the center of the room at what must be the robotcizer. Well, if they couldn't have the turkey, maybe she could at least give the heroes of this world a little gravy, she thought to herself. "Bunnie," she whispered, "Where's the controls for this...thing?"

The rabbit rubbed at her eyes, trying hard to control the swell as she pointed off toward a large console in the room, "There," she murmured. "What're ya'll plannin'?"

"Roboticizer flambe'," she answered. Taking a quick look around for guards before creeping over to the console Bunnie had indicated. She didn't care that this hit probably wouldn't mean much in the grand scheme of things, but right now she just wanted to actually acomplish SOMETHING!

Her brow furrowed as she wiped at her eyes again. Anger could be seen in them as she pressed her lips together and nodded. "Let's do it."

Sally just nodded as she pulled out her handheld. This one wasn't as efficient as Nicole had been, but it would do. She pulled out the interface cable, plugged it into the console, and began looking for the power controls.

As Sally got to work on that, Bunnie had instinctively taken to keeping guard over her, peering out and keeping a sharp eye for any problems that may turn up, while mentally mapping out their escape route.

Sally, meanwhile, got to work. "Right...disabling breakers and surge protectors..." she muttered to herself, "...bypassing emergency cutoffs..." It was a sloppy hack. By the time she fired it up, someone was sure to know what they were doing, but by then it would be too late to do much. "Ok, let's see the fireworks," she said at last, powering up the system and throwing it into an uncontrolled overload. Immediatly the entire room began to hum, with a loud whine building up in the roboticizer itself. Sparks of electricity began launching from just about anything that was attached the power system. The console Sally had been working at exploded just after she managed to tuck her handheld away. "We've got to go!" she shouted, grabbing Bunnie and heading for the exit.

Bunnie was one person who did not need to be told twice. Falling into step with Sally she could hear the emergency sirens beginning to wail, the room's hum having become a loud buzz behind them, smoke beginning to pour from the machine. They scurried down the hallway outside and Bunnie quickly took over the lead, taking her companion down that path she'd earlier thought out, barely dodging workers and SWATbots alike as they came in response to the siren's cries. Eventually they managed to find themselves back in the relative safety of the air vents. As soon as she felt they were a safe enough distance she began to slow down to catch their breaths. Bunnie's legs buckled from beneath her and she collapsed into a nearby wall, covering her face and sobbing.

And then the roboticizer itself blew. The explosion was enough to totally render the room pretty much scrap, as well as send a tremmor through the whole building. "Well...at least THAT went well," Sally said as she caught her breath, sitting on the opposite side of the vent from Bunnie. "...You ok?"

One look at her said it all. Finally able to rest, she reflected on what had happened. A horrible, heavy feeling descended upon her, and her insides suddenly felt as though they'd been replaced by an icy lead. Curling her knees into her chest she sobbed and hiccuped into her arms. Hearing Sally speak, she opened her mouth, attempting to answer - attempting to form the shallow lie that would assure she'd be okay to the princ... no, no, the other-world Sally - but she only wheezed and subconsciously shook her head no, burying her face deeper as if trying to muffle herself. He was gone. Tails was gone. Lost. She could have done more, she scolded herself. She could have prevented this! How could she have been so careless - so stupid?! And now... now Tails was... She shuddered. She had failed him. If only she had spent less time on that island... if only she had been more aware in that fight... if only she'd... ... she'd failed. Just like she'd failed Cream.Aways away, if one paid close enough attention, they might be able to hear the distant sound of... singing?

And so she did. Sally's ears perked up as she heard it, an attempt to comfort Bunnie dying on her lips. "Wait...do you hear that?"

Without lifting her head, the rabbit's ears turned, searching for what Sally had heard. After a moment she slowly lifted her head back up, face scrunched in confusion as she wiped at her eyes and turned toward its direction. " No inhibitions, make no conditions, get a little out of liiiiiine! Ain't gonna act politically correct, I only wanna have a good tiiiiiiiime! The best thing about being a woman is the prerogative to have a little fun..."

Sally, meanwhile, frowned. "I know that voice..." she said, getting to her feet and slowly following the voice back to its source.

Lingering in her spot a few moments, Bunnie rubbed at her eyes and finally got up to follow after.
