The midday light of Eden's artificial sun filtered through the window, accompanying a slight breeze through black, decorative garden-gate style bars that ruffled lace curtains. The room beyond very much resembled a child's daycare center as imagined by a Victorian designer; littered about a lavishly decorated rug that laid upon the hardwood floor were toys of various sorts. A short wooden craft table sat to one side covered mostly with different art supplies, a large Victorian couch to the opposite. Spanning the walls were an array of original paintings. And off in the corner of the room was a small bed, its wooden frame meticulously carved and a full canopy covering over the top. Surrounding this bed were the same decorative bars as found in the window. It was there, floating several inches above the mattress with a cyan aura surrounding him, that the room's only occupant could be found curled up into a fuzzy silver ball. His gentle snoring could be heard drifting through the room peacefully.

It was that quiet snore itself that drew in the presence of a disoriented stranger. Leedz tenderly rubbed at the bandages wrapped around her head while trudging through the lavish estate in deep confusion. The last thing she remembered was being in the hospital... Was this some sort of bizarre dream? Either way, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Turning into the apparent nursery, the pangolin blinked and flinched at the sight of the levitation. Before she could stop herself, she'd already yelped, "W-What the--?!"

"... Hn...?" the furry ball shivered in disturbance. In an instant the aura faded, and he collapsed into the soft mattress with a muffled "OOF!" For a moment he laid there unmoving, his back to the pangolin invader. Then, with a rather mighty yawn, he uncurled and stretched his body out, revealing a silvery colored mink with vaguely hedgehog-like features. " Silvie..?"

Leedz frowned deeply; she'd been about to ask if this person could offer her any assistance, but upon further inspection, he was apparently either being held captive or was too stunted in maturity to take care of himself, let alone her. In any case, it felt wrong to just leave at a moment like that, and against her better judgment she stepped into the room. "Um... Are you alright?"

One of the hybrid's ears visibly twitched, causing his nose to scrunch up in confusion. That didn't sound like Silvie's voice, nor like any of the servants. Giving his tail a confused swish he learned backward just enough to get a good look at the person who was now standing in the middle of his room. It was... uh... what was that? He'd never seen any kind of species quite like that before. What ever it was, he couldn't help but appreciate how beautiful she looked with those unusual pink and purple colors. He sat up, turning around to get a better look at her. Confusion spread itself over his face when he realized she was wearing a shirt and pants - things normally only reserved for pets. Upon further inspection he also realized the bandages wrapped around her head. "I should be asking you that. Who are you?"

"Oh, my name is Leda," the pangolin awkwardly replied, realizing how bad it looked for her to simply appear in a perfect stranger's home. "But, most people call me Leedz, or Leedzie if you prefer. I... don't actually know how I got here." Coughing into one fist, as that sentence sounded even more ridiculous once said out loud, she decided to change the subject. "Do you, er... need any help? I mean, you're not stuck in there, are you?"

As she spoke the minkhog had taken to yawning and scratching at one of his ears with his foot, pausing to peer at her through the bars at her last question. "Oh, not at all." Hopping off the mattress and crawling underneath the bed, he emerged moments later, slipping through a small opening on the side of the gate. Once on his feet he took to brushing himself off. "My name's Venice. Is your owner visiting Silvie?"

If the peculiar method of scratching hadn't perked her eyebrow, his question did the trick. "My... 'owner'?"

He frowned slightly. "Well you don't look like a stray..." and that was when his eyes drifted toward her neck to confirm this, only to notice something was... missing. "Hey, where's your collar?"

"Hang on a second, can we start over?" Leedz replied instead, her tone clearly uncertain. "Venice, was it? Could you just... ... ...well, explain what you're even talking about? I'm already really lost." In more ways than one.

The hybrid's confusion only continued to mount. No collar, dressed like a pet, obviously some exotic... whatever she was... but was getting confused over simple things. Oh, and the bandages on her head. Can't forget that. Say, hadn't he heard about something like that before? He pointed at her wrappings. "Did you forget who you were when you hit your head?"

Leedz opened her mouth to deny the suggestion, but paused and idly rubbed the back of her wrappings. "...Well, to be fair, I did lose a few memories when I hit my head, but only a few minutes' worth." As much as I'd like to blame that blow for not understanding where I am, it's a little late to have another memory gap.
Unless I hit my head AGAIN somehow.
Which I guess would account for why I thought that guy was floating. The pangolin finally shook her head. "Um, anyway... I'm sorry for intruding. Could you possibly point me in the direction of Parkside Square?"

Speaking of floating, Venice had taken to glancing around his room, and noticed a few things on the floor that weren't there before laying down for his nap. Frowning, the offending objects began to glow, then lift into the air and move toward a toy chest on their own. Idly he glanced back at Leedz. "Never heard of it. The closest park around here is Atlus Park. Is that where you lost your collar?"

"I... see," the pangolin replied. Actually, she didn't see at all; this mink's answers just seemed to make her more and more confused. Leedz rubbed her chin in thought. I suppose it's possible that something could've happened while I was sleeping... I didn't think I'd hurt my head THAT badly, but, there's all those shows on TV about surprising medical cases. But even if I was transferred to another hospital, that still doesn't explain ending up HERE.Just as she opened her mouth to ask another question, Leda caught sight of the floating toys... and froze in shock with her jaw hanging open.

Realizing his guest had been quiet for awhile, the hybrid took a glance at her... only to notice her expression. It took him a moment to connect what she was staring at, but when it did, his face melted into a sheepish grin. "Oh, whoops. I forget not everyone's used to that." Once the toys were back in their proper place, the chest lid slammed down, and his grin widened as he scratched at the back of his head.

"....Huh," she finally replied after a long silence, although her expression didn't look any less bewildered. "I guess I really am dreaming."

Venice blinked, then shrugged, reaching over and giving her a firm pinch on the arm.

" OW!!!" the pangolin yelped. Forcefully retracting her arm and rubbing the attack site, Leedz glared in her host's direction and hissed, "What was that for?!"

He shrugged a second time, looking rather unconcerned. "To prove you aren't dreaming."

"...." Gingerly rubbing the bridge of her muzzle, Leedz mumbled, "Fair enough, I suppose..." The pangolin planted her hands on her hips. "So, I'm in a stranger's house, in an area apparently far from my home, with no recollection of how I got here, and for the time being seem to be stuck in a place that expects me to be some sort of pet." She shrugged. "I'm from Station Square. How hard could it be?"

"So you're not a pet?" the hedgemink asked in surprise. "So... does that mean you really are a stray or something?" he chewed on his lip, looking her over. " You're too exotic and well dressed to be a servant or a stray..." and then he frowned. "... You're not a thief are you?"

That provoked a quirked eyebrow. "Well I can definitely assure you I'm not a thief. I'm just very, very lost. And as to everything else..." Leedz scratched at the bandages at her forehead. "Let's back up and just start with where I am. I can't figure out how to get home if I don't know where I'm starting." In the back of her mind, however, she was almost dreading the answer. She'd only been kidding about the pet thing, but Venice apparently had taken it seriously. That... was troubling.

And the mink was back to eyeing her vacant neck, thinking over what this girl was saying in an attempt to make sense of it. Didn't know where she was, said she was lost, didn't have a collar... Oh. Ohhhh. "... Waaaaaitaminute," he said, his fur now beginning to bristle up slightly. "You're not a feral are you?"
Post by Leda on May 22, 2009 23:09:22 GMT -5
". . . 'Feral'?" Her confused intrigue showed even more clearly in her expression. "That word means 'wild' or 'crazed'. It's not one I'd readily use to describe myself." Why would you even ASK me that? "So, anyway... What's the name of this town? Anywhere in the vicinity of Station Square?"
Post by Jamie Lee on May 22, 2009 23:24:32 GMT -5
Okay, his fur was getting higher now. "... Well... yeah... if you're feral you're from the outside world and haven't trained to be civilized yet..." he said, taking a few steps back. "This is Eden. There aren't any places called Station Square around here."
Post by Leda on May 22, 2009 23:33:41 GMT -5
"...'Outside world'? 'Eden'?" Leedz's brows furrowed in to meet each other. So far as she was aware, "Eden" was the name of a mythological paradise. Did some town actually have the cajones to name itself after the legend, or was her situation even stranger than she'd realized? Regardless, her new friend seemed to be growing frightened, and the pangolin's face scrunched sympathetically. "Hey, hey, calm down, okay? I've been just as civil as you, haven't I? I'm not going to hurt you or something..." Leedz frowned and sighed, glancing around for the door. "Maybe... Maybe I should just be going."

That was true. She wasn't acting feral. And he had known domesticated ferals before who were okay... maybe she was tame? Slowly letting his bristles fall flat the hybrid considered the situation. "Hey, how did you get in my house, anyway?"

"I said I don't know," Leedz replied through gritted teeth while shuffling out of the bedroom. This is screwed up. I wouldn't believe me with a story like this. But then, I suppose stranger things have happened... Or at least, they have in Station Square. And it sounds like it's totally unheard of--All of a sudden she stopped and blinked, then facepalmed. Followed by a whimper and tender rub at her forehead. Way to go, Leedz. "Hey, uh, Venice?" the pangolin began over her shoulder, still massaging her head. "This wouldn't by chance happen to be Sol, would it? Maybe there was another dimensional rip or something."

As she tried to head off the mink followed along beside her. "Uh... No? I don't think so? ... What are you talking about?"

"Well, there's a guy that lives in my building that was accidentally tossed from his dimension to mine with no preamble of any kind, so I wondered if that could've happened to me." The pangolin wracked her brain for another method of testing this theory. From what she could tell, Venice seemed to be rather isolated in his own little world. Even if he wasn't personally familiar with something, it didn't necessarily make it non-existent -- which rendered asking an obvious question like whether or not he'd heard of Princess Blaze useless. It was going to take outside information to get a handle on things. "I have an idea," Leedz suddenly perked up. "Is there a map around here that I can check?"
