Ridgy walked through the woods holding in front of his face a pencil-scrawled paper map he most likely draw in a hurry before disembarking Meadowood with Manic in tow. Where they were headed was a confusing zig-zagging path through the trees that by now even Manic would notice was not leading them anywhere near Mercia. "Just a bit longer my green-quilled companion," Ridgy boasted "My expert tracking skills and near-photographic memory will soon nave us at our destination."

"Great," Manic commented with a grin, hands crossed behind his head as he followed along casually, "Then I guess that means we'll, like, be there sometime next week after a detour through Robotropolis, right?"

"We're not going to Robotropolis, at least not right away." Ridgy said idly. "While on a recent expedition I ran into a native wise man. He was very knowledgeable, so I accurately assume he may be useful in discovering what's really going on with the forest vegetation." Ridgy walked out between two bushes to find that he wasn't at all lost: he'd again found the tree stump he saw Athair sitting on earlier, only he wasn't there anymore. Ridgy scratched his head. "Well I suppose you can't be meditating all day long...."

"So we are going to Robotropolis then?" Manic asked with a raised eyebrow. "Dude, isn't that, like, in the opposite direction from Mercia?" he asked, knowing full well it was and wondering if Ridgy did.

Ridgy put his hands behind his head. He realized his mistake, but as always was too embarrassed to admit it. "Of course not, I was only testing you. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" He continued to laugh, if only to appease himself about his gaffe.

And, in a way that seemed almost like magic, a rather large hulking echidna appeared from the bush, scowling at the possum and hedgehog (with equal hatred, rest assured). "Who are you?"

"I'm Ridgy Didge, and this is my associate Manic." Ridgy said idly as he narrowed his eyes too. The echidna had come out of the bushes so quickly that Ridgy didn't get the opportunity to recognize him. It didn't help that he kept splitting in two and wobbling in and out of himself before settling back into his body. "I was sure I had told you my name before...have you put on a little weight?"

Unconcerned with the echidna's glare, Manic glance back and forth between him and Ridgy before whispering, rather loudly, "So is this the naive wise guy you were talking about?"

The echidna raised a bushy eyebrow at the possum and huffed. "We've never even met." Glancing from him to the green hedgehog, he continued to speak. "Where did you come from? Is there a safe haven nearby?"

Ridgy nodded. For a split second he was too humiliated with himself to say anything else. But of course those moments pass very quickly. "We were looking for an old man...he looks rather like you but....older...."

"What, this guy not old enough for you, dude?" Manic asked, ignoring the questions about a safe haven as he wasn't about to go and give away Meadowwood's location to some cranky dude in the woods.

Pachacamac's lip listed in a sneer at the young hedgehog's comment. "You'd do well to have respect for your elders, hoglet!", and having lightly reprimanded the hedgehog, he turned again to Ridgey. "You must be speaking of Elder Athair. He's... about."

"He's about what?" Ridgy scratched his head. "Dying forest vegetation I hope." He produced the pile of rotting leaves he had been carrying in his belt this whole time.

"Tend to have respect when people aren't uber rude, dude," Manic muttered.

Pachacamac gave the possum a sidewards glance. "I mean to say he's around." He sneered, ever so slightly, at the thought of the older echidna. It'd be good to get rid of him... "What do you need with him anyway?"

"I wanted to talk to him about the trees. It looks like the leaves are falling off and they're also turning into this unnatural mushy stuff in my hands," Ridgy mulled over the plant matter he was carrying in his gloves. Suddenly he turned his whole head away. "It's starting to smell too."

Manic just rolled his eyes, beginning to regret comming along. "Yeah...it's called compost, dude."

Pachacamac wrinkled his nose. It did smell... Perhaps Athair would know what was going on- he was old enough that he'd probably seen things like this at least eight times before. "Camp is this way." That said, he began to walk off.8

"Onward to answers." Ridgy clapped his hand on Manic's shoulder as he followed where Pachacamac pointed; into the camp of this noble tribe. He was so excited he failed to notice he'd just tagged his hedgehog companion with a hand print of the decayed plant matter he'd been holding. 8

"EWW, nasty, dude!" Manic exclaimed, bonking Ridgy on the back of his head before frantically wiping the stuff off him.
