Having agreed to go with Griff up to the surface, Lilli had decided to bring the Knothole citizens sandwiches. However, she had no idea how many citizens there were at Knothole, and also, she’d remembered after she’d walked off that she’d used up everything in her kitchen that could possibly be used to make sandwiches. This left only one option. Bum ingredients off of other people. FIRST STOP, a little hut off to the side of the Climate Control Center. Lightly rapping on the wooden door, Lilli waited patiently for her Uncle to answer.

"Yes? What is it? I'm busy!" came a muffled yell from inside. After a moment the door swung open and the snowy white echidna stood there blinking for moment at who was there. "Oh, Lilli!" he said. "Come in! What're you doing here?"

Lilli glanced down at a list she'd made herself. "Well... uhm... Griff is going to... uh... Knothole?... and I was going to go with, and I was going to make some sandwiches for everyone but... I don't have anything left to make anything out of anymore." She glanced down at her list again. "Like bread." At that point she seemed to remember something, suddenly turning her attention to knitted tote bag she had with her, rummaging in it for a short while before withdrawing another cloth-wrapped square. "I made one for you earlier."

"Ah. Heh, you didn't have to," he said awkwardly as he reached out to take it. He held it there thoughtfully for a moment. "Knothole? Ah yes, the other resistance group... hmm..." He cleared his throat and coughed a couple times as he thought about her request. He wasn't even sure what he had in his kitchenette at that moment. He was sure he was going to need to make a trip to the market soon. He gave a shrug. "Help yourself."

The girl smiled slightly, giving a gracious nod as she made her way to the kitchen. “Thank you.” It seemed she knew her way around as well, as it didn’t take her long to get situated in the kitchen and making even more sandwiches (which, by now, she’d become quite adept at making). However, something else was on her mind, and she found she couldn’t concentrate as well without an answer. “Uncle, what’s new, borrowed, and blue?”

"New, borrowed and blue, hmm?" Zachary had sat down by now. He stroked at his scruffy chin thoughtfully, resting it on his palm. "Traditionally a bride is supposed to wear items of those nature, though, she's also supposed to have something old as well... Hmm... The new power rock the Knothole group gave us is blue..." he trailed off in silence for a moment, before glancing back toward her. "You're also blue, here on a new day allowing me to borrow your time." He looked up, tilting his head to one side. "What's on your mind?"

"Well..." she shrugged slightly, wondering how to put what she had to say into words. "I went through my button collection today, and the buttons said that. But it's supposed to be something bad..." She shrugged again, "... but I guess not." That out of mind, she could once again concentrate on making sandwiches.

"Hmm..." the old echidna hummed again in contemplation, now speaking more-so to himself than anything. Somehow the idea of a bad omen coming from a bunch of buttons didn't seem to strike him as odd at all. "Something new that's bad, colored blue and is borrowed..." He continued stroking at his scruffy chin.

The button issue was no longer in mind for Lilli, however, she had a new problem. Not enough bread to make more then five sandwiches, and somehow she doubted that Knothole only had five people... it wouldn't be fair to only bring five, unless... maybe if she just gave a sandwich to the first five people she saw. It still wouldn't be fair but she'd at least feel less guilty about it. Finishing up the sandwiches whilst her uncle wondered to himself, she began wrapping the edibles up in napkins and placing them in her bag. As she did so, she spoke up. "I think Griff is leaving soon, so I have to go..." Then again, she felt guilty simply waltzing in, taking her uncle's food, then waltzing off again. Maybe there was... ahah! She turned to face her uncle and smiled brightly. "Maybe you can come too?"

Zachary's thoughts broke suddenly with the question, and for a second he glanced around as if confused. Come with them to Knothole... Well, it'd been a few days since he'd left his stuffy old house other than to his job, much less the amount of time it'd been since he'd actually seen the sky... And even then he only ever saw the smog that left the city above in it's perpetual state of twilight. How long had it been since he'd even seen a forest? "Hmm.. You know, a forest bath might just do me some good," he said, standing up. "I'll take that offer."

Lilli was visibly pleased by this revelation. While she wasn’t particularly bothered by her uncle’s habits with staying in his house most of the time, it always was a good thing when he got out. At least, in her opinion. It’s quite possibly some other people would object, however. There was also the fact Griff had no idea that Zack was coming along but, well, he’d find that out soon enough. Regardless, with sandwiches all packed up in her totebag, she was ready to leave. “We should probably go now, then, not to keep Griff waiting…”

"Aright then," he nodded, walking after her.
