The sky was black, the wind was cold and the land barren and cracked. A glob of saliva smacked into the dry, dead, soil with a resounding splat and quickly absorbed into the ground, showing no signs that it had ever been there in the first place. A large, darkly clothed wolf watched as the splotch of fluid disappeared from existence and let out a slight grunt of disapproval.
"This place looks like it's gonna suck pretty bad..." the wolf thought to himself and then proceeded walking. Before him on the horizon was what appeared to be a rather unwelcoming city, a cloud of thick smog hanging over it as if it were a death shroud. None the less, it was evidence of civilization and that was good enough for the wolf, so he kept on walking towards it, hoping to find food or even better, an inn of some sort. Such was the life of a wanderer. Such was the life of Ace Zerothaine.
After an hour and a half of walking, Ace reached the city limits and surveyed his surroundings, an expression of dismay on his face. "What the hell? What IS this place?" he muttered to himself as he gazed at the piles of trash, puddles of sewage, the strange medley of modern, fairly new, steel buildings and the crumbling, abandoned homes, shops and warehouses; which appeared to have not been inhabited for nearly a decade, if not more. Something was wrong with this place... but Ace just couldn't put his finger on it.
Ace pondered what he'd gotten himself into as he walked further within the city. "Where is everybody!?" he yelled aloud, his voice echoing through the barren streets. He waited for any kind of response, but all he heard was silence. A pang of realization struck through Ace's mind for a moment... but he dismissed it as paranoia. After all, this couldn't be THAT place. All the rumors had described it as an impenetrable fortress of doom and he had just waltzed right in. "Maybe it's abandoned or something" Ace thought, though he felt that was unlikely, as he could see smoke stacks still pumping pollution into the sky in the distance. Factories don't exactly run themselves.
Regardless, Ace had a bad feeling, even if the place was abandoned, he wasn't sticking around to find out. Something was really wrong here, it just didn't make sense. He began to turn and leave when something caught his eye. He back tracked a few steps, looked into an alley way and suddenly his face lit up... slightly. He ran into the alley to investigate...
Unbeknown to him, moments after he'd left the street proper, a hover unit turned a corner and began patrolling the area, investigating some sort of loud noise, yet there was nothing in sight... the patrol unit continued it's search...
"A TRUCK!" Ace exclaimed as he lifted the battered vehicle's hood up and began to check it out. It had been abandoned for years on end. Ace frowned at this, worried that the truck may not run any longer after sitting dormant for so long. Regardless, he set about checking it's components and trying to get it in working order. After a few minutes, Ace assumed that as long as the engine block wasn't locked up with carbon deposits or otherwise severely damaged, he might just be able to get it started! Ace set about hot wiring the truck so he could get the heck out of that stinky, rotten place...
*BOOM*
The truck backfired as the engine roared to life. "YES!" Ace exclaimed happily as he closed the hood and skipped over to the driver's side door and reached for the handle...
"HALT!" a monotonous voice droned at a high volume from behind the wolf, he turned around, thinking he'd finally found some people in this god forsaken place. He couldn't of been more wrong. "INTRUDER! ORGANIC SPECIMEN CONFIRMED! DETAIN BY ORDER OF ROBOTNIK!" the voice sounded again. Ace looked at dismay at what was in front of him; Four Swat-Bots and a hover unit blocked the alley way's exit, all with their lasers pointed directly at him.
Ace's ears drooped as if the ears themselves were in despair. Swat-bots? A -REAL- hover unit? That means this actually might BE -that- place. "Ohhhhh.... S-" *bzzzzttt* Ace was cut off as a warning shot sailed over his head, just barely missing him. "ORGANIC! SURRENDER, BY ORDER OF LORD ROBOTNIK!" the machines droned on. Without bothering to continue their lovely little conversation, Ace ignored the mechanical protests and immediately hopped into the truck. Laser fire began crashing into the vehicle, burning holes through the wind shield and tearing the already battered vehicle to shreds. Ace didn't care, he leaned his head down under the dash board to prevent being hit and floored it, sending the truck screaming into the swat bots and the hover unit they arrived in.
[dice=12]
*KER-KLASSHHHH*
The truck SLAMS into the group of swatbots, ATTACKING THEIR WEAK POINT FOR MASSIVE DAMAGE causing severe damage to their internal circuitry. Which was all fine and great, but then the truck slammed into the hover unit. That wasn't so great. The truck came to abrupt stop, it's front end utterly totaled and the hover unit was sent flying into a building across the street. Unfortunately, Ace hadn't the time, nor the presence of mind to buckle his seat belt, thus the impact sent him flying through the truck's wind shield, the glass shards clinging into his fur and delivering a few minor cuts to his body, which wasn't so bad. Then Ace's glass coated cheek slammed into the hard pavement, driving the shards into his face. That WAS pretty bad.
He lay there for a few seconds, trying to comprehend what it was exactly that just happened. When the haze that clouded his mind (no doubt due to head trauma) finally cleared he jolted upright, got on his feet and half ran, half hobbled for all he was worth, knowing full well his life was on the line. Pain wracked through his body, he was pretty sure something, some where, was broken. But that was nothing compared to the agony he felt in his left cheek, with the dozens of glass shards and hundreds of small glass flakes that had been ground into it sent waves of agony through his mind.
Despite the pain, the injuries and the fact that he was pissed off that he hadn't gotten to keep the truck didn't stop Ace from running as fast as his battered legs could carry him. Maybe it was the stress, maybe it was his will power or perhaps the shock, but Ace didn't pass out. He knew that if he did, he'd die. He had to get out of here. This was a bad place, a really bad place and he had no interest in becoming a permanent resident.
The sound of metal footsteps running in pursuit and the blaring of alarms that began to assail Ace's ears only pushed him further. Only one thing ran through his mind... he had to get out... he had to get out... and he'd be dammed if anyone or anything was gonna stop him.
"I picked one hell of a day to quit smoking", Ace mutters to himself...[rand=7948061689886058991515059691179464641103412943318788606995874748]

And Robotnik was STILL sore about the events of Little Planet (wounds to his ego were the worst kind). Hearing that a Freedom Fighter had been captured and roboticized earlier had made him feel a little better, knowing that the ranks of the FF had been cut down even if only slightly, and before they could of done anything to prevent it. Yes, it made him feel a little better indeed. Now, if only that Freedom Fighter had been a certain blue hedgehog, he'd be a very jolly fat man. But it wasn't and he wasn't. So, to keep his mind off of things, he had been looking over the details of a few more war machines that were in the works. Something would have to wipe that hedgehog off the plane of existence eventually... However, he was roused from his musings over which would be the best machine to murder a hedgehog by an alert- a Freedom Fighter (or at least, assumed Freedom Fighter) had been sighted in Robotropolis and was now being pursued. He wondered, vaguely, if the FF were trying a raid, so soon after the Little Planet ordeal... possible. Probably not. They were bold at times but not stupid (as much as he made them out to be). Regardless, he smirked. He wouldn't show mercy on this one either. A few keystrokes later and the order was given: Capture the renegade organic and immediately roboticize them.

To hide: -Int Check- [dice=7] -Counter Check- [dice=6]
Ace could feel his body slowing down as a he stumbled down the streets, the sounds of his pursuers growing ever closer. He looked at his surroundings, desperately looking for a place to hide; yet every possible spot he found was either simply not good enough or too small to hide his larger body. He was starting to get pretty pissed, why couldn't he be a squirrel or a raccoon or something? There was about a million places Ace could see where a smaller mobian could easily conceal themselves; but Ace quite frankly, wasn't a smaller mobian. Despite the discouraging turn of events, Ace kept moving, passing an old, broken down chili-dog stand and a small convenience shop with the widows busted out and the paint peeling off in sheets. He knew that if he stopped running, he'd either be dead.... or worse.
Ace turned his thoughts to the detective who'd raised him when he was young. "What would Arthur do?" Ace thought as he moved on. For some reason, Ace's mind flashed back to a cold night a long, long time ago....
The then pre-teen Ace had gotten up one night to get a glass of water, only to lose his grip on it, sending it crashing to the floor. He remembered how he had begun to frantically pick up the pieces and clean up the mess, hoping to get it out of sight before Arthur came down to investigate what the sudden noise had been. However, Ace managed to slice his finger wide open on a shard of glass and with a yelp, he dropped what pieces he collected and clutched his wounded finger, dripping blood all over the glass shards and the floor. Before Ace could do anything else though, Arthur had already arrived in the kitchen.
The Detective sighed, as he got a broom and dust pan and began sweeping up the glass, Ace couldn't manage to utter anything except for a few sounds that seemed to resemble the phrase, "I'm sorry". Arthur bonked Ace on the top of the head with the side of one of his knuckles in disapproval, "What were you thinking kid? Picking up glass with your hands like that?" The Detective said as he readied some bandages and ointment from a nearby cupboard. "Ya' gotta use your head kid! You gotta use your head!" Arthur said, pointing his finger at the top of Ace's skull and began wrapping a bandage tightly around the young wolf's finger....
Ace snapped back to reality, a grin on his face; He had an idea. He stopped immediately and ran back to the chili-dog stand. He worried if it would collapse on him after he entered it, but he didn't have much of a choice. Jumping behind the counter, the wolf began to rip open cabinets and long dormant refrigeration units. Ignoring the rancid smell of the nearly decade rotten food within, Ace kept looking until he found what he wanted and tucked it away into his coat. He stood up and started running down the streets of Robotropolis once again.
He looked up, sweat dropping from his brow and he saw a group of Swat-Bots heading towards him. Ace quickly darted to the left in an attempt to lose them and nearly smacked face first into another group of Swat-Bot's coming from that direction as well. He turned around to run the other way but there were even more Swat-bots coming in that way. He was surrounded. He pressed his back against the wall of a nearby building, looking about as his pursuers finally closed in and surrounded him, weapons at the ready. "Aw hell... well... I guess this is it..." Ace muttered to himself quietly...
"ORGANIC! SURRENDER BY ORDER OF LORD ROBOTNIK! RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!" One of the Swat-bots uttered at maximum volume. Ace, looked down towards the ground for a moment, hiding his features as if in deep thought. He suddenly brought his face up once again, an insane grin on his face, betraying the look of absolute madness. "YOU CAMELS WILL NEVER TAKE ME ALIVE! I NEED A SPORK! TAKE ME?! NEVAHHHHH!" Ace screams madly, hoping about like a mad man. He breathed in and out furiously as if there wasn't enough air in the world to satisfy him. The Swat-bots ignored this erratic behavior and began marching in on him, again repeating, "ORGANIC! SURRENDER BY ORDER OF LORD ROBOTNIK! RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!"
Ace grinned madly and pulled out his revolver, twirling it about his fingers before pointing it's barrel into the left breast of his coat. "I SAID NEVAHHHH!" he shouts insanely. Then, taking one final deep breath, pulls the trigger.
*KAH-KOOM!*
Ace's expression went completely blank, his eyes widening. Then he collapsed, a pool of red seeping out from beneath him......
???: -Int Check- [dice=7] -NPC Int Counter Check- [dice=6]
DRAMATIC PAUSE! He lied there, perfectly still and unmoving. The Swat-Bots watched him for a moment, as if confused as to what to do. One unit walked up to the wolf and nudged the body with it's foot. "ORGANIC HAS SELF TERMINATED" the Swat-Bot announces, "ALL RESPIRATION FUNCTIONS HAVE CEASED, CANCELING PURSUIT." and with that, the troop started marching off, issuing a request for a maintenance droid to come and clean up the mess. They never saw the smirk that slowly formed upon Ace's lips as they walked away...
When he was sure they were gone, Ace slowly sat up with a slight groan and reached into his left jacket pocket, picking out chunks of glass, a bottle cap and a ketchup label with a hole right through the center. He grinned, examining the label momentarily, the brand name "CHUCK'S" emblazoned at the top of the label, "Thanks a lot, 'Chuck'" he said sarcastically and tossed the label aside. Gritting his teeth, Ace picked up his mangled body and began to head for the city limits just a few blocks away, as fast as his legs could possibly carry him. He may of gotten away from his pursuers once, next time he may not be so fortunate, he was getting the hell out of there and that was that. Not that long a time had passed since a certain robotic hedgehog had successfully completed capturing his first freedom fighter, overseeing the poor soul's robotization and adding him to Robotnik's endless ranks. Now with that detour from his surveillance activities over and done, Metal was beginning to head back toward the great plain to finish scouting over it. However, something in the metallix's mind protested that. Protested against what his programming demanded. The great plain was big, empty and there was nothing out there. It was... it was boring. As a result, he softly touched himself down onto the ground from where he'd been traveling overhead, dust swirling into a miniature vortex around him. He was only a few blocks away from that vast expanse of monotony, and so that he wasn't necessarily disobeying his programming... he began slowly dragging his feet, creating a racket that sounded similar to a shovel being scraped over pavement.

Ace panted heavily as he jogged to a concealed area behind a series of crates against a building wall. He'd been darting from hiding spot to hiding spot for a while now and the city exit was no where in sight. He was lost. "Aw sonva... " he muttered to himself, irate at his predicament. What was he going to do, ask for directions? He began to lose hope that he'd ever get out of the corrupted lands of Robotropolis when he heard 'the' noise. A sound of something rough being dragged against cracked pavement. Curious and paranoid, the wolf peaked from behind the boxes he was hidden behind and sure enough, there was a blue hedgehog dragging his feet as if bored. What kind of moron can just stroll around in this place? Unless...
Were the legends true? The so called "hero of mobius" was supposed to be a blue hedgehog. Could this be him? Was the myth real? Sonic THE Hedgehog? Was Ace saved?! It seemed insane, while he HAD heard some rumors about an invincible hedgehog who'd halted Robotnik's advances time and again, he'd always assumed they were resistance propaganda. Surely it couldn't be true. Yet here in front of him was a blue hedgehog, in the middle of Robotropolis, strolling without a fear in the world. Only an idiot or someone incredibly confident would ever do something so dangerous. Considering this hedgehog was still alive, he assumed it MUST be the latter! Ace was giddy, he couldn't help it, he WANTED to believe he'd come across some sort of savior. Sure, the whole thing stank, but when you're grasping at straws, you tend to take what you get.
Delusion Check [dice=7]
Reality Check [dice=7]
Emerging from his hiding spot, Ace revealed himself to the hedgehog waving. "Hey! You must be that guy!" he said, running up to the 'hero' happily. However after getting closer, Ace's heart nearly stopped. This wasn't a hero! It wasn't even a hedgehog! He began to back away in surprise and fear, scuttling backwards and grasping for his revolver. "You're... DEFINETLY NOT SONIC HEDGEHOG!" he exclaimed, sounding retarded as he did it, his tongue numb with fear. He wasn't so much shocked that it wasn't Sonic the Hedgehog, he was shocked at how stupid he had just been. Ace knew full well that a mistake of this magnitude could very well be the last one of his life. [rand=610976847414068097501198505468342733541696465626983574027529182]

Metal paused mid-step, his head snapping toward Ace when the wolf had come running at him. He happened to notice how badly he was wounded and made an assessment of his threat level: Minimal. Orders: Capture. However, for a moment he just stared thoughtlessly at the intruder, vague feelings swirling around what he had just been called. After a moment he finally responded in his monotonous voice: "My name is Metal." As he had begun to speak, he kicked himself off the ground with an initial roar of his engine and went speeding toward Ace, electricity crackling around one of his arms as he reared it back to grab and give the wolf a jolt that would stun him.

Ace fell backwards and fired off a wild shot in Metal's general direction in panic. What the hell was this thing? The wolf wasn't sure, but it was terrifying as all hell.

Metal charged forward like a bat out of hell. The bullet fired at him hit the inside of his concave stomach with a loud clinking noise, then ricocheted and disappeared into the opening of his air intake. There was a loud and nasty grinding sound as the bullet embedded itself between something vital. Error messages blared as the metallix's engine lost control, causing him to careen off his course. Rather than charge the wolf like he intended, Metal missed him by inches, the wind he generated tugging at Ace's fur and clothing. There was a loud crash as the metallix went flying into a set of old and rusted trash cans, their contents scattering as Metal finally found himself hitting the wall they stood against. Silence followed.

Ace wasn't entirely sure what happened. One moment a rampaging robot had been charging at him, the next moment it was crashing into walls. Ace decided that whatever it had been, he didn't really care. The wolf turned the opposite direction from the metallic hedgehog and bolted, running for all he was worth. He glanced at his revolver as he ran. By now, he'd only have four bullets left, which wasn't exactly reassuring considering his opposition was essentially encased in steal armor. He dearly hoped that his most recent assailant had put itself out of commission.
That said, rumor is people in hell are hoping for snowballs....

The silence didn't last long. Buried underneath the pile Metal worked on recomposing himself and assessing his amount of damage. His turbine was effectively shot until the time needed to remove the bullet could be taken, and at that moment that was far from his list of priorities. A loud crash broke through the air as the metallix forced his way out of his cocoon and kicked away trash cans in his path, eyes darting about in search of his prey. The wolf he was seeking had vanished from sight, but as his eyes locked onto the dark fresh trail on the ground left from his wounds proved, he was far from gone. Instantly Metal leapt out of the pile and began to jog, the fastest he could carry him without the aid of his jet, after the trail.

Ace heard the clang of Metal's foot steps trailing behind him. Realizing he was being pursued, the wolf rammed into the door of a large building and ran inside. The interior of the structure was filled with a vast series of long deactivated manufacturing equipment and conveyor belts. Ace felt panic rising in his throat. It was awkward, being a text book definition of a tough guy, fear was not something Ace was entirely comfortable with. He looked about frantically, trying to find something, anything, that might help him survive...
*wavy crap* "But Arthurrrr...." the young wolf exclaimed, "I'm hungry, can't we just go to the store?" he asked lazily. The gruff detective grinned at the young boy, the terrier's teeth glistening in the moonlight. "If you don't learn to use what's at hand, you'll be depending on others the rest of your life!" Arthur advised, as he waited patiently. The pair sat there under the night sky for nearly an hour without saying another word. Ace yawned, he was hungry and bored. This was stupid! Sitting around here doing nothing! It'd take 5 minutes tops to drive to a gas station. The old man had finally lost it! He was about to stand and object to Arthur's obviously senile fancy when he was cut short by a loud snap.
Arthur began laughing as he pointed at his handy work; The detective has set up a trap to catch a meal for the night and just as he had expected, it had caught a meal indeed. A large (non-sentient) boar hung from a nearby tree, it's haunches hopelessly entangled in the sharp detective's trap. The young Ace was outright shocked.
When Arthur had suggested they go camping, he'd been expecting a roaring fire and marshmallows on a stick. What he got, was a spit roasted boar and a few life lessons. Needless to say, he ate well that night. "You can give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day", Arthur said as they ate, "But if you teach him how to fish, he'll eat for the rest of his life!"
Ace grinned evilly as he glanced around. The old factory was just loaded with heavy objects, big machinery and other wonderful 'toys' just waiting to be played with. Killer robots, lifeless city and black skies be damned. Ace wasn't afraid anymore. Ace... had a plan. The wolf began to chuckle a bit as he disappeared into the depths of the factory, he only had a minute, if that, but it was more than enough time to get this party started.

Hearing the noise, as well as still following the trail, it wasn't long before the metallix caught up and found the building the wolf had retreated to. It was fairly dim inside, the lack of light of course being due to the building's inactivity. He switched his view into a night vision mode and continued to search.

This particular factory was used to produce various forms of complex machinery, both big and small. As such, it had a large number of large, powerful machinery, which covered the lower floor. This machinery was controlled from a control booth above*, accessed by a set of stairs and leading into a storage warehouse. It was in that control booth, that Ace intended to set his plan into action. He sat crouched below a control panel when he heard Metal's footsteps echo within the building. He grinned, if this worked, he'd look like a total badass. If it didn't.... well, he'd probably just look really stupid and end up dead. Either way, he decided, a guy's gotta do what a guy's gotta do. He flipped a switch on the control panel and the factor came alive. Lights flashed on, machinery came to life and activity burst from the floor below.
Ace dashed out the stairs of the control booth to a platform connected to a raised catwalk above the machinery of the first floor. He dived for the cover of a small console there, hoping Metal didn't see him, so that he could hatch the next step of his plan into action.

[dice=7] The machinery groaned in protest as it came to life after having sat dormant for an unknown period of time. Metal halted dead in his tracks when the sound of it reached his ears, and his head immediately snapped up to the control booth. His vision zoomed and he spotted Ace running along the catwalk. Making an attempt to fire up his jet in pursuit, it gave a groan in refusal from it's earlier damage. He blinked at this, his eyes flashing brightly for a moment in what could have possibly been irritation or anger. Ace looked from behind the console and saw Metal jogging towards the stairs. "DAMN!" he muttered. He'd been spotted! So much for his great idea. It was then that he noticed something peculiar. A minute ago, the robot had been flying at incredible speeds, why the hell was he jogging? Ace considered the possibility that it was a trick, but immediately dismissed it. As far as he knew, robots weren't capable of planning something that clever.
Knowing his options were limited, Ace decided to get somewhere less exposed. The wolf sprung to his feet and sprinted back into the control room and slammed open the door for the warehouse. He took only a second to survey his surroundings, fully aware that a killer robot was practically right behind him. The warehouse was jam packed full of old crates and junk stacked upon seemingly endless rows of shelves. "Perfect." Ace thought to himself and dashed inside, disappearing amongst the shelves and boxes.

[dice=7] Metal burst into the room, his glowing eyes illuminating the otherwise dim warehouse. As Ace scrambled about within, it appeared as though he hadn't taken something critical into account - his footsteps echoed. Thus, Metal quickly caught onto the source of racket and charged forward (which, considering his present condition, wasn't very impressive) in its direction. Despite his condition however, he managed to close the gap. When he spotted the wolf he let out a yell of, "ORGANIC, HALT!" and attempted to fire an electrical bolt at him. [dice=12] Ace suddenly jolted, lifting his pistol directly parallel to Metal's face, pulling back the hammer simultaneously with his thumb. "Gotcha'!" the wolf said with a grin and pulled the trigger.
BOOM!
The sound of the revolver firing echoed throughout the warehouse with near deafening intensity. Ace quickly scrambled to his feet and ran away into the depths of the warehouse, not even looking to see the results of his gun shot. He knew better than to assume a single bullet was capable of bringing down a metal encased robot. The wolf gritted his teeth against the once again inflamed pain of his wounds and silently prayed that his body wouldn't give out on him. His only hope was to get away from this insane robot and this equally insane city. He was positive that if he passed out now, he'd never wake up.
Ace quickly took cover behind a shelf filled with wooden crates and checked his revolver. Three bullets left. He decided hiding wasn't going to work. The robot was obviously too persistent to ever give up looking for him anyway. He struggled to come up with a plan, but the pain from the various cuts, bruises and possible internal injuries he'd suffer earlier began to cloud his mind. The electrical shock he'd suffered moments ago had only made his pain multiply several fold. Ace began to wonder if he might be doomed. Well, if that's how it was going be, the wolf was determined not to go down without a fight. So he pressed himself against a large crate and waited for a chance to turn the tables on his mechanical opponent.

[dice=11] When that gun went off the point blank shot pierced straight through the robot's left eye. Immediately vision on that side became lost as warnings flared up, causing his head to fly back and a few sparks to spit out from the bullet hole. It took a few moments before inertia allowed the robot to pull his head back, and by then the wolf had scrambled. Metal blinked his still functioning eye several times in genuine confusion. Though his programmed orders were screaming at him to continue his pursuit the robot just stood there staring blankly, then raised up a claw and touched his damaged eye despite the fact he couldn't feel it. His eyes suddenly narrowed as he lowered his hand back down, "Stupid" he said in his monotone voice as he once again attempted to pursue Ace.[rand=4196926225377062329836138286571797251753940483139093403047882066]

Ace heard Metal's statement and raised an eye brow. Did the robot just say something out of anger? He pondered this possibility, it didn't really make sense to him. Robots weren't supposed to be able to feel emotions, let alone get angry. Angry... the word seemed to spark something in his mind... a memory...
In what appeared to be a large gymnasium, two familiar figures danced a violent dance....
"YAHH! IYAA! KYYYAAHHHHHH!" the young wolf cried as he unleashed a fury of punches and kicks at his mentor, who seemed to lazily dodge each strike as if he were half asleep. The wolf began to get frusterated, attacking faster and harder with each blow he threw at his opponent, yet still missing every time. Exasperated, Ace let loose a ferocious round house at his foster parent and only friend's head. The sharp detective merely ducked under the kick and delivered a an earth shattering uppercut into the wolf's gut, instantly knocking the wind out of him. Ace collapsed the the floor, holding his belly, desperately trying to regain his breath.
The detective merely shook his head and helped his charge back to his feet. "Ace." Arthur said sternly, giving the young kid a stern look, "If you let your rage get the better of you, you'll end up like this every single time.... or worse.", he scolded. Ace merely nodded, wiping the tears from his eyes and resuming his fighting stance, fists up, legs apart, slightly bent at the knees. He panted for a moment before finally regaining his breath. "Bullspit old man! Let's go! YARRRGGGGHHHH!" he cried as he threw himself full force at the detective...
Ace couldn't help but wince at the memory, as Arthur had wasted no time kicking his ass time and again because of his fool hardy recklessness. He smirked a bit, finally having another good idea. "Oooooo" He called out from his covered position behind the box, "What'sa matter, is poor little robo-bitch pissed that his big bad machine body is getting it's ass kicked?" he said, his smirk becoming a grin, "By a beat up, homeless guy no less! For all that ferocious attitude and fancy lightning crap, you sure do suck!". Ace some how found some humor in his insults, despite his morbid situation. Then, as a coupe de' grace he added, "But hey, don't cry! Maybe you could find work as a can opener, what with that silly looking pointy nose of yours. Seriously! You suck so bad that you couldn't even brown-nose properly! Maybe you should just kill yourself and save everyone else the agony of being in the presence of your utter lameness!". He just hoped he was right about the robot seeming angry earlier.

Metal's head snapped at the sound of the voice taunting him. His head tilted to one side in confusion, part of what he was saying not making any sense to him. "This unit is modeled after a male hedgehog, not a female canine. This unit does own a donkey." he said as he jogged toward the direction he was sure the voice had come from. Rounding the corner from the set of shelves he'd been running alongside, he spotted Ace, and once again sent another electrical bolt at him. Ace didn't even bother to dodge and took the shock to his body. He ignored it, he didn't care. He had only one chance, he was desperate.

He made an attempt to reach out and grasp Metal's head, grabbing the robot's face with one hand, and then slam it's head hard into the cement, before finally passing out himself.[rand=5907014390833611288626254949652002081727319262705640130991704382]

Metal hadn't been expecting the bold maneuver, and thus had been caught completely off guard by it. He went flying forward in the wolf's grasp, his face smashing into the ground with a loud metallic clang. However, it hadn't been enough to case much harm. Metal pulled his face back up, his eyes glowing slightly brighter than they had before as they spotted the now unconscious wolf. Pulling himself back to his feet he approached the prone form, running a quick scan over him before hefting him up into his arms and beginning to carry him off.

Ace collapsed, smoke billowing out of his mouth. Everything went black... and then... he fell into a dream... or perhaps it was another reality. Is there any difference between these things? Reality and dreams? If it's real to you, if you experience it, is that not a reality all it's own? Just what exactly is this existence called life? This existence called reality? The world swirled around him, Ace saw himself. He was falling... only to find the ground was without substance. His fall continued; he kept plummeting, down, down into the darkness he fell. "Am I dead?" he asked aloud, as if the void would offer him some explanation. To his surprise, it did, in the form of many voices. Their hushed whispers resounded all around him, yet he could not see who... or what was answering him. "Yes!" one voice cried, "No!" another interrupted. "You're both wrong, it's neither!" a third voice argued. "No way! He's a gonner! He's FINISHED!" a fourth voice screamed. "NO!" the second voice, (a woman?) insisted. The voices began to argue, their words over lapping and swimming around the confused wolf, he wondered what'd happened to him. His mind swam as he tried to remember... Remember... Suddenly the void lit up. Lights! Camera! Action! a movie? a play! No, a grand drama! played before Ace, but it was upside down. He tried to reposition himself to see the screen correctly, but the theater merely twisted with him. He was still falling, and it seemed the theater was falling with him. floating? flying! fleeing? fighting? So he resigned himself to simply watching the events as best he could... A woman A hag! A witch! Heretic![/tt] A mother? A monster? A woman... cried tears of crimson as the shadows dragged her off. She clawed at the floor, tried with all her might to stop her advance, but her finger nails simply tore away, leaving her fingers raw and bleeding. She pleaded with her shadowy assailants, she begged them to let her go. Their silent response only amplified her terror. A lake, black and empty. It's waters, calm, tranquil, yet terrifying all the same, bottomless, endless. Dark! Void! Abyss! Cower! FEAR! It was here that the shadows called home. The woman screamed, yet the shadows ignored her cries. Her only answer was their pale, glowing yellow eyes, peering at her with disinterest and endless hate all at the same time. They grabbed her by the back of her head and wordlessly tossed her by the hair into the depths of the water, her body vanishing in it's depths. Darkness! Light? Pain! Torment! Peace? Moments passed, all was still, the suspense rising. Suddenly, a form burst from the water, gasping for air. Escape! Freedom!? Life? She arose once more, (death) from the depths and floated upon the surface. She opened her glowing, yellow eyes. SLAVERY! The woman joined the other shadows and turned towards Ace and began to advance towards him. "WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ONNNNN!" the wolf screamed in confusion as the darkness over took him. Let go... sleeeeeep... rest... give up, it's okay... He began to close his eyes, giving in to the darkness, letting it take him. The voices closed in around him, they would have him. It was only a matter of time. Die... Where am I? Live! Tired... Dark...Cold Who am I? Searing... Light [/sup]Sorrow! [/right] Burning courage! Surrender! Vanish into light! Why is this happening? Get up! Vengeance! Wrath! Fight! What am I fighting for?! Justice!Suffering! Take it like a man! not afraid of the darkness... [/right] Burn!Is it finally over? What is it you truly desire?[/tt][/center] Live! Die...
9 Die!I can't let it end like this!Betray
8 Live!I just wanna rest... so tired...!Suffer!

By now Metal was outside the factory, still carrying the limp wolf in his arms. Before leaving he had sent off a radio signal for orders on what to do with his latest capture; and now he was heading back toward the prime fortress. As he traveled he looked down at the prone figure he clutched tightly onto, eyes trailing back and forth as he studied his features with a vague, yet thoughtless, curiosity.

"I WANT TO LIVE!"
The words SHATTERED the darkness, replacing it with a burning light. Rage, passion, anger, hate, all these emotions rushed through every fiber of Ace's being, the fatigue, the lack of strength, they vanished in an instant. All concerns, all logic, was thrown away, leaving only one thing. The desire to live and no matter what, Ace was determined to reach out and grasp that goal, with his own hands. His own strength!
The wolf's eyes snapped open. He glanced up at Metal's ugly mug and in an instant, was struggling, raging, pulling, biting, punching, kicking, pulling, screaming and pushing, all at once. He began to resist his captor with everything he had and then some. A strength of immense proportions filled his battered body. By all rights, he shouldn't even be barely able to move, but something forced his body to keep going, to keep fighting. That strength, that will to live, it burned with a ferocity the likes of which Metal had surely never seen in an prisoner ever before.
As to what exactly, Ace was screaming at Metal?? Well, let's just say they were words that are best left unsaid.

The robot had been taken by surprise at the sudden outburst, blinking and struggling himself to keep a grip on his prisoner. He thought back at the last prisoner he'd taken, of the method he had tried that managed to subdue it. His brow caved, and he sunk and ground his razor sharp talons deep into the wolf's flesh with the belief the results would be no different than they had been before. After all, so far he'd been given no reason to believe they wouldn't.

Ace gritted his teeth as the robot's claws dug into his flesh. He noticed then that the robot seemed to cease restraining other parts of his body. Ace quickly caught on to the robot's idea, after all, by a robot's logic, that'd probably make sense he figured. The machine obviously understood that pain was a very effective deterrant. The wolf grinned, and twisted himself about, so that he was face to face with robot and looked it directly into his eyes. "Do you know... the difference, between us? What it is that you lack, what it is that will ensure that in the end, it will be Mobians, NOT machines, that rule this world? Why it is that you will NEVER win?" he said is a gritty voice to his captor. Ace's toothy grin grew wider, his eyes glistened with a look bordering on insanity...

For a long moment the machine just remained silent, staring vapidly into the wolf's eyes. His programming ordered him to ignore it, to pay no mind to his words or his struggling, and to continue taking the hostage to the destination he'd been told. Instead of just stood there rooted firmly in place. That raw feeling, that curiosity, that little vague voice that seemed to be its own entity compromised with his programming's demands. That this was only a temporary postponing, but that he would follow through and take the wolf to the roboticizer just as he'd earlier done with that tenrec. The programming seemed satisfied with that, and that vague little voice grew in strength. Was the question the wolf asked a riddle? A problem for him to solve? He began to ponder on it, his head tilting slightly to the side. "I am... the property of an organic," he began, attempting to speak in the same pattern those two children had seemed to respond to. "This world is... already owned by Robotnik." he went silent again, continuing to try to work out the answer to Ace's question. "... I do not understand your question..."
