(or alternatively, "Robotropolis- Ker-Plunk") Robotnik, at the moment, had relocated from his main control room to one the L.A.B. He needed something to keep his mind off the other things going on right now, like the escaped prisoners and the massive property damage caused by two … otherlanders. And what would make him happier? Continuing with his plan of dominating that other world. But to do so, he’d need a little help from someone with a little experience on creating portals. Luckily, he’d roboticized just such an individual earlier that day… Robotnik had also, just for this occasion, had a special chip created. After all, a mindless drone wasn’t much help for anything other then labor, and that wasn’t the sort of help he needed.

Finitevus trudged into the room stiffly and then halted, his body waiting for further command. Inside however he was scowling fiercely, colorful words about the tyrant racing through his thoughts.

Good, his ‘guest’ was here. Now it was only a matter of installing the chip. Of course, that was something he’d never do himself. He rarely, if ever, did things himself. Usually he had Snively do everything, actually, but Snively appears to of exploded into a British supernova and never heard from again. Instead he waved his hand vaguely in the direction of a workerbot, which approached the mechanical pangolin. To the pangolin himself, he gave only one short order. “Shut down.”

Well. It wasn't like he had much choice. His slumped forward, his eyes becomming dark.

Once the pangolin robot was in shut down mode the bystanding workerbot quickly removed a metal plate and went to work installing the specialized chip. It was shortwork, however Robotnik was feeling a bit impatient due to the annoyances he'd had to suffer lately. But this may be worth waiting for- after all, if the chip worked as it should, it may be quite useful. It worked by altering the programming set in at roboticization, though ever so slightly, by allowing a degree of free will. But only a degree. The use would come from the fact that the robians would still be compelled to obey- and if things really did work here, Robotnik was considering the idea of using such a chip on another robian and ordering to give the location of Knothole. But first things first, as afterall, one shouldn't count eggs before they hatched. The job done and the plate replaced, the pangolin robot was reactivated. "Well?"

The robian pangolin's eyes flickered back on, and slowly he blinked as realization came back to him, his gaze already having been centered toward his mechanized body. Something felt different, he realized. Something had been altered. As he straightened up he suddenly realized what that difference was as he looked up at Robotnik. He narrowed his eyes with a look of contempt. "Well what?" A moment passed, and he shook his hand dismissively. "Wait. I'm very good at guessing," as he spoke mockingly, a twinge of acid seeping into his tone, "You need my help, but you needed me in a position where you could ensure my cooperation. How utterly original."

"So, what does the next step in that villainy-for-dummies handbook of yours say?" He spoke in a resentful tone. "Have me kidnap a princess? Build some sort of doomsday device?"

"You've already met the princess, if I remember correctly." He smirked. Oh, he knew the pangolin was being sarcastic, but still."Doomsday device is more on the mark. Although I tried that once and I died or got sent to the void or something and boy was that a fiasco and all this stuff exploded and just, you know, whoo! Definately a rush. You... are going to use your knowledge on portals to help create a stable and controllable teleportation device."

"Humph!" Finitevus shoved his nose into the air, mostly in an attempt to puff himself up more to Robotnik's height. "One does tend to get better results with honey than with vinegar. Was running me through that machine of yours really necessary?" He smirked a bit then. "Besides, I can't help you."

"Quite necessary." However, Robotnik's smirk melted a bit at the last part. "And why couldn't you? You did say you've helped create a stable portal for your world before..."

"Now let's see, why couldn't I possibly be of any use to you in your little chess game... Ah! Perhaps it's because I don't have any of my documents with me, and no way of accessing my database to retrieve them! And even if I did have them, I couldn't give you a stable portal. Not unless you have the kind of power source that'd be necessary." Of course, he was partially lying. He had taken his laptop with him on the trip and still had with him. He scoffed a bit, rubbing his thumb and index finger together as he spoke before he looked up and smiled impishly. "Oh dear, my knight appears has taken your queen. Whoopsie!"

Fini opened his mouth to continue his lie, then blinked when his programming, in the face of a direct question, suddenly took over and caused him to blurt out something unauthorized; "In my pocket." His head jerked downward, looking vaguely bewildered.

PWNED
Robotnik grinned in a fashion that can only be described at absolutely satanic."Oh, well, that changes everything, doesn't it? I believe you should make it a... point not to lie to me in the future, hm? Actually, make that an order." He continued to grin- as the chip he'd installed earlier seemed working perfectly well. "Is that clear?"

Still scowling. "I have the outlines for the machine itself. But I need data from wild portals, and unless you happen to have a Chaos or a Sol Emerald laying around I have no way to power it or make it stable."

Don't answer him! The pangolin twitched slightly, as if trying to remove an irritant on his shoulder. His mouth vibrated and stretched thinly in a visible effort to keep his lips sealed. Not answering isn't lying! Maybe this world has it's own similar power source! His loss if there isn-- "An entire planet's worth of energy is--" DON'T SAY IT "--a drop in the bucket in comparison to a single emerald. I either need the real thing, or I need--" HELLFIRE! "--my apprentice." He continued to glare at him murderously.

Robotnik rubbed one of his many chin s in thought. Well, now may be a good idea to further investigate what was keeping up that suddenly appearing landmass- it may be able to serve as a power source for the portal, or, if not, some other project or another. But just in case, it was best to consider all options. "And who is this apprentice of yours?"

No answer isn't a lie! he continued to mentally yell at his programming. He clamped his mouth shut defiantly.

The tyrant's brow furrowed. The name 'Miles Prower' didn't ring any bells, however, 'Tails' did. It took him a few moments to sink in just why it sounded familiar- if he remembered correctly, 'Tails' was the name of the bratty (and mutant) fox kit that sometimes followed around that bothersome hedgehog. "Your assistant is a ten year old fox kit?" Sure, the alternate universe didn't seem to play by the same rules but... still.
