And... the tenrec could apparently hear very little, if any, of this and was at the moment tugging at his ears. "It's like there's a siren in my brain..."

There was a sudden rush of air quickly followed by the rustling of leaves. Midnight couldn't take it anymore as she disappeared above the canopy of trees. She was tired, she was sore, angry, confused... and she just couldn't take it. Quickly she began to formulate a reason in her mind for her hasty departure for when she'd inevitably have to return, and came to the conclusion that since the three smucks below were useless, she may as well use her ability to fly to see if she couldn't find a way out of the swamp from above.

@segaray@ Threats delivered to a panicking squirrel by a person that had just assaulted said squirrel's crush with an airborne vehicle? Yeah right.

Crash was VERY close to just hitting Ray in the back of the head to "calm him down", but... he decided to try being a little less violent this time. Taking a deep breath, Crash hoisted Ray up so he was looking up towards the tops of the trees. "Your girlfriend went that way. Sounded like she was kinda ticked off as fast as she was going." Crash grumbled, and ended up setting Ray up on his shoulders, to leave his arms free. He seemed to be ignoring Dash, but not quite enough that the tenrec would be able to sneak away.

Which was okay. The tenrec was currently still trying to get his ears to work again. "Actually, if you guys can all talk at that volume, I should be able to hear you.", he said, referring to Ray's shriek.

@segaray@ ".............Oh."
Ray was, erm, rather conflicted about riding on Crash's shoulders. On the one hand was the repeating point that this was SCARY CAR-FLINGING MAN. But on the other... If he was apparently done flinging cars, and didn't seem to be showing any wrath to Ray, then his shoulders were probably a safe place to be. And Ray liked being safe. His ears folded backwards, the squirrel did his best to stop his tail from fluffing up and squeaked, "Th-Th-Thanks.."
Hopefully Ray wouldn't pull a SaRay and lose bladder control while he was up there.

Crash just shrugged a little, and walked towards Dash, while rummaging through his hammerspace. After a moment's searching, Crash pulled out a battered notepad, and a HEAVILY chewed pen. Crash then turned past several pages, most of which contained the words "Julie", "Dark Legion", and "Finitevus", among many other, related things. One last page even had a roughly scribbled sketch of the DL logo, and finally the devil stopped on a blank page. A bit of scribbling later, and the devil held up his note. "I don't feel like yelling at you right now."

Dash glanced at the notepad. "That's a change. So, where next?"

Crash thought for a moment, and glanced up into the trees. A bout of scribbling later, Crash had scratched out his prior note, and had written a new one. "Well, we should wait till the bat gets back, otherwise spazcase here'll probably have a psychotic episode."

Dash shrugged. "Fair enough." He looked upwards. "... when is she coming back anyway?"

Crash frowned a little, and... Cue more scribbling. "No clue, really, but if we leave, she'll NEVER find us."The devil sighed. That bat was already proving to be a pain in his tail, and she'd only JUST woken back up, too.

The tenrec frowned, crossing his arms. "Well, then I guess we don't really have a choice then."

@segaray@ Ray idly leaned his elbows against the devil's head. It was seriously pretty boring to hear only one side of the conversation, and he wasn't quite willing to interject himself into it. Instead, the squirrel pondered over that new toolbelt. Where was it now? What shape was it in? He'd probably never know. Ray let out a detached sigh. He'd barely known this one, too!

Crash shrugged, glancing up into the trees again, before scribbling yet another note. "How are your ears doing?"The devil was honestly tired of writing notes just to communicate with someone who, TECHNICALLY, was his prisoner, and would rather start talking normally, thanks.

Crash shook his head, looking up into the trees, and remembering he had a passenger. "Say... Ray, right? You have any idea when that girlfriend of yours'll be back?"

@segaray@ Ray blinked as he realized he'd been addressed, he fur fluffing up slightly with anxiety -- and at Midi being directly called his girlfriend. "U-Um... I'm not sure. She kinda just goes at her own pace. ..." He briefly pondered whether or not to correct Crash's misconception, but as she wasn't around to hear it at the moment, the squirrel found himself content to let the mistake linger.

Above them, Midi just barely kept within hearing range, subconsciously circling widely around the group's area. The air was warm and thick with humidity and smelled of musk and trash, but she closed her eyes and allowed her mind to wander, concentrating only on the wind as it parted through her hair and fur. Concentrate. Concentrate. Clear her mind. Settle down. Think. She took long, slow quasi-steady breaths in an effort to slow her racing heart down. Her fists closed and she felt a surge of energy through her fingertips that jolted up her arms and down her spine. Slowly she released them. Concentrate. Settle down. Think. Where were they? How did they get here? What the hell was up with Dash and that other guy? Her brow twitched and she drew in several more breaths. It was bad enough she had to put up with Ray and all his spazzing alone. As she mulled over her thoughts and questions she slowly began to notice a dull ache in her head. This was too much. She turned her focus back to concentrating on the wind. After a time she finally felt as though she might have calmed back down enough to rejoin the group. But first to take care of what she promised herself she'd use as her excuse... Opening her eyes and glancing around, she picked out a land mark close to where the boys were and spread her circle wider and higher. She couldn't help but notice the dark clouds coming that seemed to rise up from the ground a distance away. She squinted her eyes... a storm? No... She'd be able to recognize it in the air. She stopped circling and held herself in that spot, squinting her eyes. A... a city? She couldn't tell for sure. Figuring it a better direction than nothing, however, she turned and began soaring back toward the group.

Looking away from the notepad to glance up through the few spaces the treetops provided, Dash paused, then pointed. "That her?"

Crash took a moment, then looked up into the trees, an ear twitching. "Yeah, probably... Hey, Batgirl! Get down here!"

A rustle of nearby leaves signified the bat's return. Hanging upside down from a nearby tree branch, Midnight folded her arms over her chest and glared down at Crash. " What." she said sharply.

Crash just hiked an eyebrow up, as he really wasn't in the mood to acknowledge Midi's anger. "You see anywhere we could go that's not here while you were up there?" The devil crossed his arms, ignoring the squirrel grabbing his ears for the moment.

Meanwhile, the tenrec seemed to be trying to get water out of his ears or something. Really, he was just hoping if he hit the side of his head hard enough he could jar something back into working. [dice=3] (1= Sucess 2= YOO FAIL, 3= ALSO FAIL. Come on, Dash needs more chances to fail. He's Dash.) It wasn't working (HAW).[rand=490900456682217542925049607678334564721739620688122363380755570672]

The bat snorted and jerked a thumb in one direction. "I think there's a city or something back that way."

Crash thought about that for a moment. Cities meant technology. Technology meant vehicles and communication. Those meant A WAY OUT OF THIS HELL-HOLE. So his decision was obvious. "Lead on, then. We should be able to find a way home there if we're lucky."

LET'S THINK ABOUT THAT. Midi didn't believe for a moment this psycho had any interest in helping them get home. Well. Maybe to HIS home... But still. A city meant lots of people and places to hide, which probably meant a greater chance of her, Ray and Dash being able to get away from him one they got there, and also a better chance of finding help. "... Yeah, sure," she said begrudgingly. Opening her wings she allowed herself to fall from the branch and then caught herself in the air, swooping back up above the trees to get a better view.
