The bat glanced around. The only obvious exit seemed to be a long tunnel they were now standing before. "I guess we go that way," she shrugged, then glanced down at the floor. Grimacing, she tried to lift one of her feet back up and was greeted with a wet sucking sound followed by a dull 'pop' as the mud's suction feebly tried to keep hold. Ohhh no. No no no. She was not walking in this. She squatted down a bit and stretched her wings out. With a quick thrust she launched herself into the air and simply hung herself there, hovering a couple feet above the muck and grime.

@segaray@ Whiiiich Ray quickly misinterpretted as Midi making her way back up the shaft through which they'd each just plummetted. His eyes practically bulged. "NONONOMIDIYOUCAN'TJUSTLEAVEMEDOWNHEREIT'STOOSLIPPERYFORMETOCLIMB!!" Without warning, the flying squirrel lived up to his title and launched himself at Midnight, clamping his arms unbudgingly around her waist.

And, when the devil fell, the tenrec fell off of him, directly face-first into the swamp gunk below with a rather sickening 'SPLACK' sound. And almost immediately, said tenrec sat up and began spitting out a mouthful of said swamp gunk. "AUASUFHASFUAH OHCHAOSEW"

Crash stood up slowly, the muck dripping off of him as he simply glowered at the tenrec in front of him.
"... Who. Are. You." The devil's voice held more than a hint of menace as he spoke. His temper was coming back, rather quickly.

The tenrec wasn't paying attention to the tazzy devil, however. He was more concerned over the fact that there was still foul-smelling and worst tasting swamp muck in his mouth. Needless to say, his only reply was a lot of spitting and gagging." YECH!" It should also be mentioned that at the moment, he was doing his dandelion of death impression. You know the one.

Crash stepped towards the tenrec, and lifted his hand, as if preparing to punch Dash... but instead, swatted him on the back of the head, intending to dislodge the muck currently taking residence in Dash's mouth.
HE. WANTED. ANSWERS.
Crash realized a moment too late that he hadn't COMPLETELY throught this through, just before his hand was skewered with several spines.
"SON OF A BI-"
-MEANWHILE-
The bumperrang flew through the air, whirling quietly, before seeming to lock onto one of the hoverpods, bouncing off the top of it, and whirling AWAY from Crash and Dash.
A moment later, a portal opened in front of it, and it flew through, the portal remaining open for a minute or so afterwards, plenty of time to follow it.

"GYAAAAK!" And as the way gravity had its way of working, the sudden and unexpected excess weight pulled both of them straight out of the air and caused them to drop like stone back into the mud. The stinky, slimy mud. "AUGH, OH GROSS, EW!" Midi screeched, flailing and trying to kick the spazzing squirrel away from her, "LET ME GOOOO!"

Yup plenty of time indeed for all the Swats and baddies to chase after the foul bumperang. The robotic fools fell into the portal before it closed.

@segaray@ If there's one thing that'll make a wuss let go, it's getting kicked in the face by an angry bat. Ray tumbled backwards with a pained yelp (and a subsequently gut-wrenching "splurk" when he hit the sludge) and held his jaw, a moment later spitting out blood. "...OHGODI'MBLEEDINGI'MBLEEDING!! " ... If only..." Midi mumbled, flattening her ears against the back of her head against the noise that echoed everywhere in the enclosed space. She stood up and attempted to wipe some of the mud off her (... so much for trying to stay clean...) then just... started walking down the tunnel. Away from Ray.

Of course, the devil's plan failed on more fronts (or backs) then one. When he'd smacked the tenrec the force of said smack sent said tenrec right back INTO the mud. With his mouth open. AGAIN. Cue a very disgruntled tenrec with a mouthful of disgusting swamp goo. "AUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGH!"

Crash, meanwhile, was growling as he tried to pull Dash's quills out of his hand, wincing with each success. He REALLY should've thought that through a bit more.
Once his hand was free of the vicious spines, Crash's attention was back on Dash, his eyes narrowed.
"Come on. It's not THAT nasty, moron."

Crash just grumbled, and turned to walk away, activating his skates to keep him above the muck.
"I don't have time for this. Maybe I can find another of those portals and get out of here."

Dash spit one last time before turning to the devil. "You know about those too??"

The devil in question stopped, looking over his shoulder at the tenrec.
"Yeah, how do ya think I got here?" With a snort, Crash turned around, his skates still on as he asked a question of his own.
"How much do YOU know about those things?"

The tenrec gave a sideways glance over to the devil, opening his mouth to reply... Well, my boss just decided to randomly throw me through one...... and completely rethought saying that, since his 'boss' was considered a terrorist by ... well, pretty much everyone. "... Not much, I've just stumbled through a few." Though, thinking on the terrorist thing... right now was a bad time to be out of hologram... but suddenly deciding to turn it on would be even more suspicious... [dice=2] (1 Do it anyway, 2 Not bother) Getting up out of the mud, he turned to face the devil, hiding his back and the brand on it from Crash's view. Of course, there wasn't any point in that if the devil had already seen it. "Which world am I even in right now?"[rand=84306135543337144324342616170472357905612992470196193908364320372]

[dice=2] [1 he noticed, 2 he didn't]
Crash's eyes narrowed, taking on a much more dangerous gleam. He RECOGNIZED the symbol that tenrec had on his back.
Dash's question ignored, Crash covered the distance between them rather quickly, and hoisted his 'victim' into the air, his neck in a tight hold.
Fortunately for the Legionnaire, Crash's grip was NOT tight enough to cut off air, but this wouldn't matter in a moment as Crash pinned the tenrec against a nearby tree.
"Julie. Where is she." Crash's voice had seemed to have taken on a deadly quality, as if death itself had asked that question... and depending on Dash's answer, that may be the case.[rand=479488274575370600778829202478459384837398805577919827535393848825]

The tenrec's eyes went wide as he suddenly found himself hoisted by his neck and slammed against a tree, his spines bristling up instinctively creating what witnesses have often described as a 'spiny afro'. "J-Julie? I d-don't, I-I m-mean- I..." Oh yes. Stuttering-mess-rec.Apparently he hadn't hid that mark quite quickly enough.

Crash snarled at the stuttering tenrec, dangerously close to simply trying to pop his head off, but fortunately, sense overrode that instinct.
For the moment. The guy was the first Legionnaire he'd seen in a long time, and he was GOING to get information he could USE.
"A pangolin. I'm looking for a female pangolin, who got taken by YOUR group. WHERE IS SHE." Crash's grip tightened a little as the last sentence escaped between clenched teeth.
He was giving this guy one last chance, then, he was gonna be cleaning blood out of his fur.

The tenrec gasped a bit as his air intake was stiffled ever so slightly. "IDon'tknoww-whereJulieisIhaven'tseenhertodayI'dt-thinkshe'dstillbeatthebase..."

With a growl, the devil released Dash, who remained suspended by his own quills for a moment, before Crash knelt down, his hand flexing a little as he asked his next question, seeming a LITTLE calmer, but not much. " Where is this base? You see, I've been looking for Julie for a long time now, and I've gotten rather annoyed at how I always seem to get enough info to get myself into trouble. So... be honest." Crash's eyes looked calm on the surface, but, since he'd locked them with Dash's, it was obvious that if he didn't like Dash's answer, the tenrec may end up as PART of the tree behind him.

@segaray@ It was at that moment that Crash suddenly aquired a cling-on. Which happened to be a flying squirrel. And a shrieking one, at that.
"GAINSGAINSGAINSISTHATYOU?! OHGODWHATTHECRAPISTHISPLACE?!" Ray screeched at the top of his lungs, hopping onto Crash's back and wrapping his arms around the devil's forehead (and probably obscuring his vision at least somewhat with his membranes).

And while the tenrec's tree-lodged spines kept him off the ground for awhile, gravity and the fact that the majority of his spines were of the removable kind eventually returned him back to earth. Well, back to mud, really, and slightly balder spine-wise. But no time to think about that, instead, he made a run for it. No way he was gonna stick around this crazy devil guy! And while it was a great plan in theory, it didn't work so well when he turned and bolted directly into a blue bat. "YIPE!" Whoops.

Crash, meanwhile, went toppling into the mud with his new passenger, trying to figure out exactly WHAT was attached to his head. He could hear that tenrec running off, but heard the running cut short. Good. Meant he'd be easier to find... unless he'd gone into a portal. Reaching up, Crash's hand found what was so firmly latched onto him and dislodged it, bringing whatever it was in front of him to examine. It was a squirrel. The flying kind, it looked like... And of all the questions that Crash could ask, one came to mind first. "Who's this Gains person?"

@segaray@ ". . . . . . . ." Cue squirrel trembling. "OHCRAPYOU'RENOTGAINS!!" Aaaand cue squirrel flailing. "MIDIMIDIGAINSHASANEVILTWINANDIJUSTPISSEDITOFF!!" Considering how frightening Gainsboro tended to be himself when angered.... I suppose it's understandable why Ray went into a panick (this time), even though said panic was based on a jump of logic that Eval Knieval couldn't make.

Midi had been lagging behind Ray, her focus trained to the ground as she tried to concentrate (and ignore the headache she had). When she found herself suddenly being TACKLED into the mud, she let off an angry screech and shoved the person on top of her. "RAY, GET THE HELL O--You're not Ray." Cue the blank stare.

"... Midi? ... Fancy meeting you here." Pause. "I gotta run far, far away now before that guy kills me now." And the tenrec scrambled to his feet. But just ended up slipping in the mud again. Whoopsie.

"Dash?" Midnight continued to stare blankly as her mind tried to process this information. Apparently, the sight of seeing someone else she recognized besides Ray had caused her brain to go into immediate failure. Until... click. "H-hey... HEY! WAIT JUST A MINUTE!" she turned as Dash stood back up and latched herself onto one of his legs (which, probably, was the reason he fell back into the mud).
