Finally. Something to eat. And after that, he'd finally go get some sleep. At least, that's what he was planning. Except it seemed like the only thing the mess hall had was chili. Lots and lots of chili. ... It wasn't exactly his favorite. So instead he poked at it a bit with a spoon and made faces. "Meh."

"Hey Dash!" a hand came flying out of nowhere and gave him a hardy, if harder than necessary, slap on the back. Lance grinned, sitting down beside the tenrec with a plate that contained two chilidogs "Man, whoever made that chili is a genius!" he praised.

Much, MUCH harder then necessary. Hard enough to launch the tenrec directly into the bowl of chili he had. Much to his displeasure, apparently, because the moment his face came OUT of the chili again, he looked ready to remove Lance's eyes with his spoon. Though, it was hard to look menacing when chili was dripping off your face and your spines were puffed out like some kind of angry afro. " WHY. DID YOU. DO THAT."

Lance stared blankly at Dash for a few moments. He glanced down at his hand and wiggled its metallic fingers. "Umm. Whoops. Guess I'm not used to my strength yet." Then his nose wrinkled and a snort escape him, causing him to bury his mouth into his palm as he began chuckling. "Dude, you look ridiculous."

The tenrec's spines drooped back to normal, and Dash gave an aggrivated sigh. If it was an accident, he couldn't just go stabbing out Lance's eyes with a spoon, no matter how much he wanted to. He was probably just over reacting. It'd been a very long, very annoying day. And now he had chili on his face. "Today just keeps getting better and better, doesn't it..." he sighed, picking up a napkin and trying to wipe his face off. Soap and water probably would be a lot better, but there wasn't exactly any around at the moment.

Lance just continued to chuckle, not even bothering to try to hide it now as he began eating.

Dash grimaced, but didn't say anything about the fact Lance was now laughing at him. He was more concerned with getting chili out of his ears. "So, what DID happen to the village?"

HORK. Lance coughed and pounded his chest to dislodge the food that had just become caught. "Ugh, man, killjoy," he said after a moment, his laughter finally having stopped. "I already told you what happened, Robotnik trashed the place."

"So I've heard," Dash muttered, switching to cleaning out his other ear. "But what are the details? Like how'd Fathead find the place, and did anyone else make it out?"

Lance frowned slightly and took to resting the side of his head in his palm. "Okay, first off, do you remember anything? Just to be sure I don't repeat anything you already know." Sure. Only to make sure he wasn't repeating anything.

"Trying to remember anything gives me a headache. I do remember what I had for breakfast this morning." He frowned when he added- "It wasn't chili." Course, he meant breakfast of three or four days ago, when the whole disaster happened. He hadn't really had any decent breakfasts after that, really. But that tends to happen when you're on the run. Not that he could remember it. Though he did wonder why he was so hungry now if he had breakfast 'that' morning. That and if he should go see if there was anything else to eat, other then chili... specially after getting a face full of it. Blegh.

"Man, that kid really did do a number on you, huh?" Inwardly the wolf was breathing a sigh of relief. All his face showed however was that of confusion and even a little concern. He glanced up with exasperation and screwed his mouth to one side. "Honestly man, I don't know most of the details myself. Your guess is as good as mine how he found us, I just know when he attacked everything went by in such a blur it was hard to focus. Especially after I got caught," his frown deepened as his eyes drifted down to his free hand that had taken to drumming on the table. "Last person besides you I've seen was Jacky. She went running off, but I have no idea if she's still okay or what even happened to her."

The chili at this point was mostly cleaned off, though there were still some spots. He frowned a bit and thought over what he'd just been told. Of course Lance would of paid attention to what happened to his girlfriend, rather then anyone else. But so was to be expected. "I guess that's something to look into then, if there are any other survivors." His gaze turned down to Lance's hand as it drummed. "How did you escape anyway?"

The wolf's brow furrowed. "Actually, you had something to do with that. Don't ask me what though. I was kinda paying more attention to, you know, being turned into a %$#$ing robot." he spat the last sentence through his teeth.

The tenrec shuddered. "I could... see how that'd take your attention away from what was going on, yeah." He turned his attention to the chili that was still left in the bowl, returning to poking it with his spoon. He probably should go get something else to eat, if there was anything else... Awkward silence. Felt he should say something. "So... you alright?"

Lance's hand stopped drumming, curling into a fist. He'd been trying to block out those memories and concentrate on other important things, but still being so fresh in his mind, and now having them prodded at, made his face contort into a bitter and angry grimace. He drew in a quick breath and held it. "Yeah, I'm fine," he snapped. "I can't feel a $#@$ing thing in my arms, legs, or most of my head. I haven't had a decent sleep in days because it's impossible to find a way to get comfortable, and when I do sleep I keep having %#@$ing nightmares. I have a permanent metallic taste in my mouth, and I keep getting phantom pains of the burning sensation. Oh, and let's not even go into how awkward moving around at all is because I either underestimate my own strength or actually forget where I've placed my hands and feet. But don't mind any of that, because you know what? I'm perfectly fine!" Oh yeah. He'd been holding that in for awhile.

Dash just... kind of stared blankly. "... h'okay then. I'm... going to go now." AND HE BEAT A HASTY RETREAT.

The hackles on Lance's back had raised by now, and with an angry scowl he watched the tenrec run off. He placed both hands on the table and glared at them, feeling his throat vibrate as a soft, nearly inaudible, growl escaped him. ... Then as if it had never happened, his expression melted back into a smug contentment. A wry smile donned his face as he resumed eating.
