"It's okay," she said before he could finish. "You don't have to explain yourself. If you don't want to be carried, you don't want to be carried." Phoebe took a seat on the couch, running her middle finger along one of the seams of the arm. "I'm just a very... 'huggy' person."

Well, that didn't make him feel any better. In fact, now he felt worse. ... And why should he be the one to feel bad?? She was the one that randomly picked him up! You don't do that! ... Right? ... Oh, now his ears were drooping. Lovely.

Phoebe's brows furrowed. How could a moment that'd been so fun turn so quickly into a sad one? There had to be a way to lighten the mood again... Hopping up from her seat, the overlander grabbed a small, squishy square of fabric and tossed it to her tenrec. "Catch!"

And catch he did, holding the small squishy fabric like he'd just caught a piece of china that was on the very verge of breaking. "... What... what'sh this?" Looking it over, it didn't seem special. But... it had an odd odor. Sort of familiar, but quite alien. Holding it to his nose, he took a good whiff of it, hoping to be able to identify it through it's scent. To anyone watching, this would be when the tenrec's spines poofed out (once again, comically), his eyes widened, and he froze in place. For Dash, this is when the world exploded.COLOURS WERE BRIGHTER SMELLS WERE MORE INTENSE TEXTURE WAS MORE... TEXTUREY. "... woah. ... WOAH." VOICE WAS MORE VOICEY.

Comical? Comical was the tip of the iceburg. Resuming her seat on the couch, Phoebe leaned her head against one palm and snickered. This promised to be fun; she'd not gotten to watch a beast play with a sundrop packet since years ago when she still lived home with Diggory.

The tenrec's head jerked in the direction of the laugh, wide eyes blinking at the sound. Even her laughter was... better, in some way. He liked it better than having her be upset, anyway. Taking a step towards her, the world seemed to whirl around him. "... woaah woah woah..." Okay, maybe none of that. Maybe time to sit down. Yes, that was a great idea. Whump.... Well just falling down like that was silly. Giggle.

The overlander cracked up at the display. This had definitely improved the atmosphere. "Bet'cha never had fun like this in the feral world, huh?"

... Oh, the carpet was nice. He rolled against a bit, reveling in the feeling... and giggling the entire time. "There isn't carpets like this in the whateffer world." He rubbed his cheek against the flooring. Sure, it was a little rough, and probably not the softest, nicest carpet in the world, but at the moment, it was probably the carpetiest carpet in the world. And frankly, he liked it just fine the way it was. Carpety. He paused, one ear lifting as he eyed Phoebe. This certainly couldn't be normal. He picked up the packet that he had dropped and eyed it as well, before looking again to Phoebe. "... what is this?" Besides warm, lovely FUZZZIIIEEEES!

"It's called a sundrop packet," she replied, sliding onto the floor, but still allowing him his distance. The human crossed her legs and snickered. "It's full of some powder or other that makes you guys act funny."

"Sundrop?" Funny, sounded familiar. He'd heard that somewhere before... oh well, he'd figure it out later. But for now... he belly crawled/shimmied over to the overlander and... pounced. "Hug <3"

Considering that he'd been consistantly rejecting her attempts to do exactly that, Phoebe was understandably surprised at the beast's sudden advance, even with sundrops in mind. Not that she wasn't pleased -- or planning on taking full advantage of the situation. So what if he was high as a kite? This could potentially be the only time he'd allow her to snuggle him. With a wide, contented smile crossing her face, Phoebe carefully wrapped her arms around the tenrec (mindful of his quills, of course, as they were definitely not flat at that moment) and nuzzled his forehead with her own. "You're cuddly~"

Aaah. Warm and snuggly. Now is time to melt. Which is precisely what he did, happily... churring the entire way. Oh yes, he churrs.

At that sound, Phoebe felt a little like melting herself. THIS was precisely what she missed about having a beast in her life! Carefully securing him in her arms, the overlander got back up long enough to take her place on the couch for the third time, adjusting Dash on her lap so they could both relax (and he wouldn't leave his sheddings, of course). Once settled, Phoebe turned on the television, and gently stroked the side of the tenrec's face with one hand.
