And if to rub salt in the wound, Lindy was on her way back to her workshop when she found her way blocked by the scene. Unable to progress, she stopped to witness it.

And even worse, Vic hadn't even left, so he was watching from his perch on the railing. He felt bad for the Chameleon, but... he apparently had brought this on himself.

"Good intentions do not excuse horrid behavior, Espio!" Rob scolded angrily. "While I'm sure her highness appreciates the gesture, your flagrant disrespect and lack of humility is both childish and disgraceful, and a poor reflection of not only yourself, but me as your mentor and this entire village!"

His eyes had begun to sting, and grew hot with moisture. The fact that people were starting to gather and stare just made it all even worse. Why did things ALWAYS happen this way?? Couldn't someone stop for a minute to listen to his side of things even once?? As more and more eyes focused in on the spectacle, Espio fought to contain his welling tears, until hiding all together with his camouflage. " But... It w-was an accident, Rob! I didn't know..." He wasn't the only one that had noticed the growing spectators. Sally's attention momentarily broke to steal glances at the lingering villagers, and in spite of the chameleon's dire need of discipline, she frowned. He needs to be taught a lesson, but he doesn't need to be embarrassed in the process.

As with Sally and Espio, the archer's eyes quickly snapped up as he took notice of the growing crowd. Despite his impulse to finish what was started, his thoughts echoed similar to Sally's; humiliating the boy certainly wasn't going to help resolve this issue, and doing so was probably only going to cause further problems later on. So, with a heavy and unsatisfied frown, his hold on Espio released. "We will discuss this further later on," Rob stated in a deliberately calmer tone, "Go."

For once, Espio didn't need to be told twice. The instant he'd been released, the air filled with the sounds of feet pounding on the boardwalk, quickly fading away down the path. Releasing a stiff breath, Sally's eyes drifted to Rob's. Her mouth twisted into an uncertain grimace. " Thirteen?"

Eyeing the direction Espio's footsteps had belted off, Rob found himself heaving an exceptionally irritated sigh. Facing Sally, he dropped down to one knee and lowered his head in submission. "Your majesty, I absolutely cannot apologize enough for his behavior. There is simply no excusing it. I beg you to forgive him."

The princess carefully massaged the bridge of her nose. This was... decidedly not the type of hiccup she'd expected in preparation for this trip. She could only hope that the boy would be able to control himself at least enough to keep from making things worse. Turning her focus to Rob, Sally shifted her weight and gave an encouraging pull at his shoulder. "Try not to worry about it, Mr. Hedge. There are much bigger problems for us to work on right now; we can always give him a talk later." Internally, however, the squirrelmunk groaned. She really, really, really hoped that this kind of behavior wasn't on the horizon with Tails.

The archer repressed an urge to sigh, nodding in agreement and rising back to his feet at the princess' insistence. "Aye, you're right. We should focus ahead on our mission," his mouth thinned as he mulled over everything that needed to be done. "I suppose I should see to getting the meeting prepared. I presume you'll be checking in on your cohort?"

"I suppose I should, since there's an opportunity to. I may not be able to again for quite a while." Sally looked down at the bags that Espio had retrieved, and cracked a smile. "If nothing else, I do need to thank that boy for fetching our supplies. Sonic will probably feel better having some of our own food even if he can't keep it down." Hoisting her own green bag onto her shoulders and carrying Sonic's by hand, the squirrelmunk continued, "I'll go make him a little dinner, and then I'll meet back with you after he's done. See you in a bit, Mr. Hedge."
