The hover car gradually began to slow itself to a still. Traveling through the maze of tunnels that lead to and from Lower Mobius always had its dangers, the threat of attack by ratbots looming around each corner in the dim light. But thankfully luck had been with them, and the ride had been fairly smooth. The barrier that protected the underground village from the tunnels slid back from some emergency power supply, and Zachary parked the car just inside as it slid back shut. Once having settled he took a moment to pull down his hood and remove his filter mask - revealing his entire face for the first time. "Unfortunately, the power in the village is down and we can't stay down here too long until I can find a new energy source," he said, grabbing the dead power stone he'd been carrying and climbing out of the car. "But there's a backup generator in my workshop and we should be okay long enough to get the boy's leg fixed. I need to retrieve a few other people still down here anyway." Having said that, Zachary shifted the stone over into his mechanical right hand. Concentrating on his organic left, a small ball of light began to form in his palm, growing until it was about the size of a basketball and floating by no apparent means. He held it out like a beacon to illuminate their surroundings and began to walk off. "Come on."

His own eyes shining like a pair of green flashlights in the dark, Silver Sonic followed silently behind the echidna.

@segajulie@ Well, at least the sooner we get Dash fixed, the sooner we get out of here, the accompanying pangolin thought idly, having spent most of the trip leaning her arms and muzzle over the edge of the car. Once the vehicle came to a stop, Julie turned to Dash and began hauling him onto her back. "You better not squirm, unless you're a masochist," she grinned.

Dash frowned and set about to making himself as much of a dead weight as possible. Like hell he was going to hauled around anymore over people's shoulders. "Do you really need to haul me around like I'm a sack of potatoes?? Only ONE of my legs is messed up, can't you get me like, a crutch or something?"

"Hey, this way's faster," Lance smirked. "You'd slow us down having to hobble." Hearing the tenrec's complaints, Zachary muttered something to himself and held his mechanical arm out in front of Julie. "Get the cane out of my arm compartment for him. I'd do it but my hands are full." Midnight, meanwhile, followed along behind the group quietly, keeping an eye on Dash. She was just waiting for her chance to corner him...

Meanwhile while the group was busy with Dash, Silver took up a point guard position, his head slowly drifting back and forth as he scanned for any threats that might approach. The limited information in his databanks suggested that the only security Robotnik had down here were feral creations called ratbots, and the barrier should be enough against them, but still no reason not to keep a sensor out for trouble.

@segajulie@ Giving the mechanical limb before her barely a second's glance, Julie instead grinned and turned back to her teammate. "Nah, I got a better idea." Without the slightest bit of warning, the pangolin snatched hold of Dash's limp ankle and gave him a sharp tug, proceeding to drag him along the unforgiving rocky rhode road ground. "See? MUCH faster!"
@segaray@ The flying squirrel, meanwhile, hadn't yet moved from his seat, despite the fact that Midnight had already vacated. Hugging his knees, his fur afrizz, and his cheeks matted with tears, it didn't look like he'd be getting up without prompting.

Giving a pause that made her lag behind, Midnight had noticed the lack of a certain yellow squirrel's presence. She had been planning to turn around and fetch him, but... the sudden cries up ahead took a sudden priority. She turned, running back after the group. "Hey! HEY!" she yelled, snatching Julie by the arm dragging Dash. "Let him go, you not a very nice person ass hole!" Zachary glanced over his shoulder, then shook his head and muttered something to himself that sounded similar to "Stupid kids."

@segajulie@ Julie gave a perturbed sneer at Midnight, but quickly returned to her grim amusement as her attention fell back on the poor tenrec in her grasp. "Well since you asked so nicely..." Cue unceremonious Dashbutt dropping.

" OOF!" The tenrec squirmed on the dusty ground, getting himself into a sitting position and rubbing at his now sore backside. "What is WITH you, Julie?? Do I look like someone's Radio Flyer to you? Do you see any wheels on me??"

"We should be moving on," Silver urged. "Please retrieve your companion from the ground and the other from the transport," he added, motioning towards Dash and Ray respectivly.

@segajulie@ The pangolin snickered and planted her hands on her hips. "Occasionally. And I'm sure the good doctor could fit you with some nice wheels if we suggested it. Maybe you'd even get spinning rims!"

"Are you kids done goofing around already? I can't stand here holding this light up for you all day!" Zachary said, stopping and turning several feet away to make an annoyed growl. "Oh get off my nuts!" Midnight snapped, then glared at Julie. "What the hell is wrong with you?! Geez!" and then, turning to Dash, she offered a hand to help him up. "You okay man?"

Taking the offered hand, the tenrec brought himself (wobbily) up to his feet. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just get me a crutch or a cane or something and I'll be fine." He shot a glare at Julie at that last part, ignoring her comment about pimping his limbs.

@segajulie@ With an antagonizing smirk to Midi, Julie replied, "Oh, don't mind me. I'm just begrudgingly acknowledging that I'm a girl this week."
Next order of business: finally getting Dash the recommended cane. ... Except that Zachary seemed to be trying to move on now. The pangolin rushed to his side and invited herself to begin fumbling with his mechanical arm. "Hey, wait up a bit, old timer. You said we could use this, right?" Finally figuring out how to remove the walking aid, Julie mentally grinned and thought, Plus he can't hit me with it so long as Dash has it.

"Whatever," Midnight muttered, helping Dash to get himself stabilized. " And you still owe me answers, buster." she said in a lower tone directed specifically at the tenrec. "Heh," Lance idly smirked, "he'd probably run even faster with a pair of skates welded to his feet." Zack jerked at the sudden grab made to his arm, stopping in his tracks and glaring between her and his arm in irritation. She ignores him when its offered, then runs up and rudely grabs him after the fact... He couldn't help but feel a snarl start to form across his face. As soon as she had what she was after he violently jerked his arm away from her hands. "You're an insolent little snot, aren't you?" he growled. The ball of light he held suddenly flickered and nearly extinguished as he squeezed his hand around it in reflex.

"Buster will give you answers when the right time comes around. Now isn't that time.", Dash muttered back to Midi, then reached an arm out to Julie, giving her a nod. "Thanks." And then to Zachary. "Thanks for letting me borrow this. It's better than being dragged around."

"..." This group was beginning to strain his tolerance routines. "Infighting is nonproductive to our goals. I suggest we move on...or do you require assistance?" ...Was that a tone of warning in that last bit?

@segajulie@ "Pfft," Julie snorted in passing in response to Zachary. "Whatever, old timer, you SAID I could take--" All of a sudden she seemed to realize where the available light was coming from, and did a double-take. It probably wouldn't have seemed as strange if the light had been coming from his mechanical arm, but in fact it was the organic hand that weilded it. Peering curiously, the pangolin piped up, "Say, how're you doing that?" Does this world have Gifted, too?

Lance glared over at Silver. "Psh, shut up you stupid tin can. Like you know anything." "Hmph," Midnight rolled her eyes into her head, letting go of Dash now that he could support himself. "Just don't think I'm going to let you weasel out of it." "Yeah, sure," Zachary grumbled toward Dash. Glancing briefly at the energy ball, he looked back at Julie, snorted, and turned away without saying a word. Let the little brat have a taste of her own rotten medicine, he thought as he began walking again. Luckily his shop only seemed to be a couple blocks away at this point - at least, it was the only building in the village that seemed to have lights on.

"It largely depends on race, culture... whatever shelter can be found from Robotnik..." having finally reached the shop, Zachary juggled the power stone to hold under his left arm and motioned to open the door, only to pause while his hand was on the knob. In one swift motion he whirled around on Julie. "Why is the mark of servitude on your back?" he demanded with a sudden, and probably familiar, intensity.

@segajulie@ The pangolin flinched, mostly with surprise, but in lower level of her psyche, Julie also found herself with a handful of the butterflies Finitevus tended to give her when he was angry. They quickly faded, however, when she began pondering over the doctor's choice of words. 'Mark of servitude'? She'd never heard her tattoo referred to that way before. Then again, considering that it marked her for life as a member of the Dark Legion, it did essentially make her Fini's property. Apparently it wasn't such a strange term after all.
Not that she was coming clean with any of her thoughts. She doubted it'd be wise to be too forthcoming about her status as a Legionaire with that robot following them around, anyway. "I told'ja, it's none of your business!" Julie replied instead, beginning to look annoyed. "You don't see me poking YOU about personal information, do ya?"

With an impassive glare that lasted for a good few seconds, Zachary's eyelids then lowered, and a small smirk curved his mouth. "Then I suppose it's not my business to help your friend." "Oh no," Lance suddenly piped up with a slight snarl, "We did NOT go out of our way coming down here just to turn around and leave!"

Great. Julie was going to mess everything up and then he'd have to spend the entire time in this chaos-forsaken war torn world barely being able to even walk. "It's the symbol of the guy we work with." Dash spoke up, hoping that this would satisfy the echidna. "He's... sort of eccentric."

@segajulie@ "DA-AAAASH!!" Julie hissed, turning to glare back at her teammate. Honestly, so much for secrecy these days! Even if they were in some other world, that robot following them around was either loyal to Eggman or G.U.N. -- both of which were trying to find Finitevus' base of operations.
On the bright side, at least he hadn't said exactly who their boss was. Letting out a sigh and folding her arms, Julie begrudgingly acknowledged, "...Yeah, what he said."

Despite Dash's well meant intentions, all this did was create a long thoughtful pause in the scruffy white echidna. "And who'd that be?" he finally asked. "Only people in my family's tribe wear that marking."

@segajulie@ The pangolin rolled her eyes in what looked like impatience. "Well, apparently not!" she snipped. "Last time I checked I didn't have any echidna in my family tree, or else Knuckles'd be trying even harder to bang me than Lance."
