Bunnie's laughter didn't seem so loud when compared to Ray's content chirping. As far as he was concerned, the feedback and the hugging and the petting combined to form absolute heaven. Without much warning, he suddenly braced hold of her metallic leg and shimmied his way up to the rabbot's torso, at which point he squeezed her in a hug of his own. "I love you!"

To which the rabbit practically melted. Given how utterly terrified the child had been when she and Sally first found him, his progress in such a short span of time was truly amazing. Nothin' a little luvvin' can't fix, she beamed brightly, returning the hug and planting a kiss on his forehead. "Ohhh you're just the cutest little bean sprout..."

Ray smiled a wide, contented smile and nuzzled the rabbot's neck. "Oth'Mama, When Mommy and Daddy find me, will you stay with me?"

If the sound of Bunnie's mind could by heard at that moment, it would sound very much like the screeching halt of a record player. Her mirth fleeting into an awkward silence, she chuckled hesitantly and patted the boy on the back. "Honeybunch..." she drew in a deep breath, her mouth spreading itself thin across her face. "Yer Mama and Papa..." oh, it broke her heart just to say it. "... May not be back for a long, long time."

"..." The squirrel's golden ears dipped downward at the news. "But... They been gone'a long time arready..." His eyes conveyed the sudden onslaught of dread filling his heart. "Ther gonna be lost longer??"

It was funny how elation could quickly crash into such plaintive depths. Feeling an awkward heaviness begin to settle in her chest, Bunnie nodded, giving the boy a reassuring squeeze and petting his fur. Though there was nothing to back her suspicions, she could only imagine what fate could have befallen his parents, what would force them to abandon their child... "Don't ya'll worry none," she said softly. "It may take us awhile, but we're gonna do everything we can to get 'em back."

Ray whimpered and emitted the beginnings of a couple of sobs, but buried his face in Bunnie's shoulder before actually falling into tears. " I miss my Mommy," he managed to say in a strangled voice.

" Shhh, I know you do," the rabbit cooed, turning to carry him inside. Setting herself down on her bed she lowered the boy into her lap and continued to stroke at his fur. "Everything's gonna be alright. Just you wait."

Curling into the fetal position in her arms, Ray hiccuped and whimpered in a muted, almost defeated fashion. "W... What'f they NEVER find me?!" the toddler sobbed, his fingers curling around Bunnie's lilac bodysuit. " I'm not where they lef' me... I t-tried'a stay but that man took me away!" Ray's body shuddered at the terrifying thought. "What'f M-Mommy an' Daddy came fer me arready an' left without meeee?!"

"Oh, they'll come sooner or later, Bunnie assured, giving him a pat. Letting her eyes drift up to the ceiling she idly wondered what she could do to help get the boy's mind off his turmoil. After a moment, she smiled. "Y'know, yer a great lil' artist," she praised, "Any chance ya could show me anymore drawings?"

Sniffling and hiccuping, Ray's reddened eyes drifted to the doorway. "U-Uh huh..." Wiping his face on his right arm, the squirrel slid from Bunnie's lap and headed back for the outdoors.

Bunnie's mouth twisted to one side in thought as she watched him trudge off. "Oh, hold on a second honey," she started, getting to her feet and heading toward the closest. "I've got a surprise for you~"

Still hiccuping intermittently, Ray turned to peer back at the rabbit. "S.. Surprise?"

"Yup!" the rabbit exclaimed happily. Retrieving a stack of paper and a small box, she proceeded over toward the room's small table to lay out.

Curiosity now sufficiently piqued, Ray slowly shuffled to the opposite side of the table and laboured his way atop a chair. Even so, sitting flat barely allotted him a view, and he quickly switched to standing on his seat. Ray gave another wipe at the moisture lingering on his face and looked up to Bunnie. "What is it?"

"Crayons," the rabbit grinned widely, sliding a sheet of paper toward him and dumping the thin box's contents around.

The squirrel looked... puzzled, really. Picking up a red one, Ray gave it a sniff, and discovered it smelled rather fruity. With a smile crossing his face, the child happily chomped down and bit it in half.

Having come to the same conclusion, the saliva-covered crayon found its way onto the table with a gagging sound. "Yucky!!"

Seeing that he was okay, the rabbit chuckled and scratched his head. "That's not how ya'll use em honey. Here," taking up the purple crayon and a piece of paper she dragged it across its surface... producing what was quickly turning out to be a very simplified flower.

Ray's eyes widened with intrigue. It was like when his parents would write something... but with COLOUR. Which, to his young eyes, was absolutely amazing. So amazing, in fact, that he climbed straight onto the table and lowered his head to inches away from Bunnie's doodle. "Pretty!!" he gasped in awe.

Bunnie only smiled, offering the crayon to him. "Would ya'll like to try?"

A wide smile now contrasting his still tear-soaked fur, Ray nodded and reached his grasping hands for the purple instrument of wonder. Laying flat on his stomach, the golden little squirrel quickly set about marking several lines on the paper. At first, it seemed like random scribbles, but after several minutes, a surprisingly complex image began to emerge. Though crude, the drawing clearly began to take shape as several round houses -- the hut rows, where he'd spent most of his time lately.

Crude perhaps, but coming from a five year old? It left the partially roboticized rabbit looking on with a sense of awe. Taking a seat beside him, she watched with genuine interest. "Bless mah soul, honey, ya'll're really good!"

"I drawed for my mommy lots," Ray proudly proclaimed. Adding a slight addendum to the image, the boy sat back and held up his creation for Bunnie to view -- with a vague rabbit-like face over one hut and a squirrel-esque one over Tails', set an appropriate distance apart.

Looking over the boy's work, Bunnie couldn't help but chuckle in amazement. "Well now look at that, you got where you'n me live right!" she commented, patting the boy in the head and beaming. She then pointed to the hut next to hers. "Do ya'll know who lives here?"

The boy's bright blue eyes blinked; it was less the fact that he didn't know, and more that he was trying to remember who else, exactly, did live here. There'd been a lot of new faces before him over the past few days, but he rarely remembered the look of a stranger. Still, he'd been seeing some of them more often than others... Suddenly his golden ears perked up. "I f'gotted Tails!" Now having completely lost sight of Bunnie's original question, the squirrel hastily added a fox face next to his own on his hand-made map. "There!"

"Very good!" Bunnie praised at the young squirrel. "Now, do you know who lives here?" she asked, once again pointing to the same hut.

"Ummm....." Turning away to shuffle amongst the scattered art supplies, Ray tracked down a fresh piece of paper and a blue crayon. A minute or two later, he inquisitively presented a drawing of an individual with a round body and spiky back.

Bunnie chuckled, pointing to a different hut, across the pathway from her and Sally's. "No, he lives over here. Do you know who he is?"
