There's something about night in the wilderness, quite unlike night in any industrialized place. And while Knothole was indeed populated, it's nights were basically untouched. Looking up between the branches of the trees, one could see the stars twinkling above like pinholes in an inky black curtain, and hear the serenade of countless crickets. A certain echidna was no stranger to any of this, having barely lived in any heavily populated place, and in fact couldn't imagine a night without. And, undoubtedly, neither could a little pink hedgehog currently piggybacking on his shoulders. Of course, she was also probably no stranger to knowing that this was around the time she was supposed to be in bed, which is exactly where Knuckles was bringing her. As the dirt and gravel crunched beneath his feet as he followed a lowly lit path, he attempted to glance to the girl. Of course, he only had marginal success with it. It's a known fact it's hard to look at someone on your back, after all. "Did you make a lot of friends today?"

@amy@ Amy was thoroughly enjoying the ride, looking all around her with the feeling of magic in the air. Or as much as she could look at from her position, as a large portion of her view was made up of echidna head. She only looked directly at Knuckles when he asked her a question.
"Mmhmm~ I saw Tails again, and I met a nice girl called Fora, and I saw a little squirrel boy, but he didn't stay to play with us." Amy replied, snuggling up against Knuckles' dredlocks.

The echidna smiled. It was good to know that at least she was having fun while she was here, especially with kids her own age. There was only so much he could do, and being out and about around other people seemed to be just the kind of thing a growing kid needed. Or it couldn't hurt, at least. "Well, maybe tomorrow he'll stick around." The sound of wood beneath his feet as he scaled the few steps to the hut heralded their arrival to their destination. Crouching, he allowed for the youngster to climb off his back. "Alright, last stop!"

@amy@ Of course, the weight on the echidna's back wasn't relieved, as Amy continued to cling to her guardian's back. The wisps of a pout began to crawl into her face.
"Do I have to go to bed noooooooow?" The little girl complained lightly, not quite whining. Her great big eyes bored into the back of Knuckles' head, as if he could see the horribly adorable look upon her face.

Well, he couldn't see it, but he could certainly imagine it. "Well..." he started, giving himself a light shake in hopes of dislodging the girl (gently, of course), "You don't want to be tired tomorrow, do you? And besides, everyone else is going to bed now too."

@amy@ The pout increased its etching into her face, and Amy only clinged tighter to Knuckles. Though, after a brief moment of consideration, Amy eventually slid off and onto the floor. To be honest, after having played all day, she was tired now. However, that still didn't mean she wanted to go to sleep.
"Isn't there only one bed in there?" Amy asked, the frownie face still there. "Where're you going to sleep?"

"There's a couch," Knuckles replied as he stood back up. Opening the hut door and peering inside, he frowned at the darkness he found. "... how do you get light in these things again?"

@amy@ Amy seemed to relax slightly at Knux's reply, and followed him inside. It was pretty dark, that was for sure. Her wide eyes peered into the room, though despite her efforts it was just too dark to make out much of anything.
"Umm... I think there's a switch or something on the wall. I saw one earlier but I didn't know what it was for... do you think they turn on the lights?" Amy offered, remembering the strange little toggles she could find in any of the huts she wandered in to.

A bit of awkward fumbling in the dark against the wall later, the lights suddenly flicked on, causing the echidna to wince as his well earned night vision was abruptly taken away. "Guess that'd do it." Closing the door behind them, he glanced around the room. It still surprised him how different it was from home. It was just so... so... well, he didn't have the word. It just wasn't anything he was used to, as if the light switch hadn't been an indication. "Why don't you change into some pajamas? There's a box by the bed that the Princess gave us, there should be things in there for you." And, while she took care of that, he was going to take a closer look around this hut... like the water basin over there.

@amy@ The little pink hedgehog, after adjusting to the sudden brightness the magic switch gave, skipped over to said trunk, gazing at its every detail.
It was very big.

Lets see, a basin, a curved pipe, and two knobs off to the sides of the pipe. That, and he could smell water, so it wasn't too huge of a leap to figure out what to do here. He'd been to the metallic lands of the Little Planet enough times to know his way around gears and the like. Well, a basic knowledge, at least. Either way a turn of one of the knobs proved him right, as water began to pour from the pipe. Pulling a glove off, he cupped his hand beneath the stream of water, collecting it in his palm before taking a sip. He grimaced nearly immediately, allowing the rest of the water he'd held to splash into the sink. It tasted... metallic. While the concept seemed nice and all, having water coming right into the hut instead of having to go to a well, it obviously wasn't of drinking quality. Which seemed to eliminate the most obvious use of this water basin... maybe it was for some other purpose? Like washing up? The floor here was tiled... but it still seemed impracticable. Oh well, he'd figure it out later. Instead, he continued his inspection, calling back to Amy as he did so. "Find anything yet Amy?"

@amy@ "I think so!" Amy called back, her voice slightly muffled as she neatly rifled through the selection of clothes. "It's green~" Trying the little dress on, Amy found that it made a good fit, and was actually rather comfortable. She looked back at the trunk.
... Man, that thing was really big...

"Green works." Rummaging through the cabinents (and finding basically nothing), Knuckles figured he'd inspected enough for the night. And, since Amy apparently found what she wanted to use as pajamas, it was probably time to tuck her in for the night, as well. Turning to bed, he noticed... a distinct lack of Amy. Needless to say, he was quite confused. After all, he just heard her. Where could she of gone in just a few moments?? Then again, knowing her, he knew he should never underestimate her ability to wander off. "... Amy?!"

@amy@ Amy bit her lip to keep herself from giggling. This was a really good idea. It made her shiver all over from excitement, despite that lingering feeling of sleepiness behind her eyes. But first she had to wait. Trying to listen, it seemed like Knuckles was too far away. He needed to come closer.

Now, that really was quite odd. Where'd she go? However, eying the trunk... yes, that would be just about her size, wouldn't it? Smirking to himself, he approached the box, as silently as he could manage. Which was pretty darn silent, seeing as hunting was something he was no stranger to.

@amy@ Amy's breath caught as she realized Knuckles had gone slient; which meant only one thing.
He was stalking her. But did he know where she was hiding? Her excited nerves made her quiver, trying to stay calm in the excitement of the game. Still, to her credit, she kept still enough to not jostle her surroundings with movement or noise. Where are youuuuu~

Closer... closer... and... finally, he was close enough. With a sudden lunge, he peered into the trunk, shouting a loud "BOO!"It would of been great, but there was one small problem. Amy wasn't in the trunk. Just clothes. Boy, that was silly a silly mistake.

@amy@ Amy gave a light jolt from the sudden yell, her heart beating frantically. Making sure nothing had moved from her surprise, Amy worked to calm herself, though now it was proving difficult.
It seemed her intuition to not hide in the trunk had paid off, since it was very obvious that was where Knuckles had searched first. And found nothing but clothes.
She nearly giggled out loud at the image.

Closing the trunk with a click, the echidna scanned the room slowly, his expression quite serious with the exception of one upwardly quirked brow. Where could she of gone? ... She was just hiding, right? "... Amy?"

@amy@ Oh man! Don't laugh, don't laugh, don't laugh don't laugh DON'T LAUGH!
Perfectly imitating the Cheshire Cat, Amy held a finger in her mouth to keep herself from making bubbly giggly little girl noises. Just a little closer~

Scratching his head, another idea occurred to the echidna. Under the bed!Sure that he had it now, he crouched to the floor and lifted the bed skirt, peering beneath to find... Dust Bunnies. Lots of them. Well, this wasn't any good. "..."

@amy@ A fire came into the little hedgegirl's eyes. He was finally close enough. NOW was the time to strike! She crouched, building up tension in her petite muscles until she felt like she could jump back to Little Planet in a single bound. Her ears were completely erect, pinpointed at the spot she had last heard Knuckles from, and her eyes were dialated from the rush of the moment.
Her tush wriggled.
With almost no prior warning for the poor echidna, the pillows on top of the bed exploded outwards as something pink and green launched itself at his prone form.
"BOO!" Amy yelled, tackling Knuckles from above.

WHUMP.And lo, the mighty guardian found himself beneath pink hedgehogedness*. "Hey!", he exclaimed with a tone that betrayed more amusement than anything else. Gently pulling Amy off he gave her a quick noogie, being careful of the placement of both his spurs and her quills. "You spooked me! I thought you disappeared off the face of the planet!" *It's a word now.

"I got you good!"

"Yeah, yeah you did, you little rascal." Releasing the girl from his hold and grabbing one of the scattered feather pillows that had fallen to the floor in her pounce, the Guardian rose to his feet. Placing the pillow back onto it's rightful place, he tugged the comforter and sheet down, creating a perfectly Amy sized gap. "But it's time for you to hit the hay, got it?" Nodding to the bed, he continued, "Come on. In you go."

@amy@ Amy let out a small childish whine as she got into the bed. The pink hedgehog crawled under the covers and shuffled about until only the top half of her head peeked out of the sheets.
Now exhausted, the little girl let her thoughts drift as she gazed at Knuckles. After a few minutes, her eye lids lowered slightly. She looked... sad.

Tucking the in the younger girl, the Guardian couldn't help but notice. After all, who knew her better? However, perhaps he misconstrued the meaning of the look. "... oh, come on, you're tired and you know it." This was followed by a beep of the nose.

@amy@ Amy gave off a small cough that wasn't quite a chuckle as her nose was beeped, but the sad look still remained.
"I miss home..." Amy sighed. Knothole was very beautiful, and a lot of the people here were nice and fun, but it wasn't Little Planet. The vast differences between the two made her uncomfortable, despite the fact that she knew she was safe here, especially with Knuckles around. It just wasn't the same.

A frown formed on the echidna's face as he withdrew his hand. At first he gave no reply, instead shifting his focus on making assuring that Amy was tucked securely beneath the blankets, protected from any chills that the night could bring. However, once that was done, he settled at the end of the bed, gaze turning thoughtfully to the thatched roof of the hut. "I... miss it too. Plus not being there has me worried." Shifting to look to Amy, however, he tried to smile comfortingly, "But right now, there isn't anything we can do until the planet appears again. When it does, we can go home. But nothing says we can't make ourselves comfortable while we're here. We can think of it as a vacation..." He paused, scratching his cheek, the smile fading a bit as his gaze wandered. "... plus you have all these people to play with here." He went silent then, lost in his own thoughts.

@amy@ Amy listened to the guardian in silence, growing pleasantly warm as the covers trapped her body heat. The unease was still there, despite the notion of Knothole being just a resort trip. She had never been off of Little Planet until now, let alone sleeping somewhere not on the miraculous moon. It was her home, and she missed it dearly.
At this rate, she'd be up all night worrying about the Miracle Planet as much as Knuckles would, she thought.
"Knuckles," she asked, breaking the silence. "Can you tell me a story?"
