"... Optimist, huh?" She laughs very softly. "I probably won't be here tomorrow... I'm not feeling a hundred percent yet, but the doc's having trouble keeping me hidden."

"Heh," he smiled faintly. "Well, yeah, if you keep sneaking into rooms where other patients are."

The carrit laughed very softly, not quite a giggle, or a chuckle, more like... she wasn't used to doing it. "Nah, this is a special case, and I'm right next door."

The duo's conversation would be cut short, however, as the door suddenly swung open again.
@luke@
"Okay, I'm back Venice, I didn't keep you waiting too long, did---"
Luke froze in place when he saw that Patches was now sitting right next to Venice. It took him a whole lot of restrait to keep himself from blurting out the carrit's name, knowing that saying such would reveal that he knew her and get him in even more trouble than he was probably already in now.
So instead he simply stood there dumbstruck, clipboard and vaccine on the verge of falling out of his loosened grip.
Because that would totally make him look innocent.

Venice's head snapped when he heard the door burst open, pausing long enough to stare at the doctor and take in his startled appearance. An impish grin spread across his face. "Hey Dr. Luke! This is my friend. She's the one who made me fall into the garbage."

Patches' reaction didn't even involve her head snapping to the door, instead simply waving to the doctor. "He's the one that fed me lobster."

Well, that explained a lot. It was certainly a lot better believing that Patches only snuck in because she knew him and that she wasn't just barging in on all his patients while he wasn't in the room. Feeling much relieved, albeit still a little surprised overall, Luke quickly regained his composure and shut the door before anyone else looked in.
"Yes, well... I'm glad you two know each other, although I would have appreciated it if you let me know ahead of time, Patches. Spare me the heart attack."
Focusing back on his job, Luke held up the vaccine.
"At any rate, are you ready for your flu shot, Venice?"

The hybrid's fur began to raise when his eyes fell upon the large and rather imposing needle. "No, not really."

Dash gaped at Phoebe, his jaw hanging loosely and his eyes wide with disbelief. Eventually, however, he did come up with an actual reply. "THEY DO WHAT?!"

As if the impending shot weren't enough to get Venice's nerves on the rise, the sudden and very loud shriek back in the lobby caused him to jump in surprise. A few plastic displays on top of a cabinet simultaneously went clattering onto the floor.

Patches jumped at the yell, her floppy ears seeming to perk a bit as she tried to find the source. Quickly placing it near the front of the store, she glances at Ven, and found herself resting a hand on his shoulder. "Easy Ven. S'not even near us."

Luke made a startled reaction upon hearing the shriek as well. However, his attention was quickly diverted to the fallen dioramas once the excitement died down. Ah yes, Venice did tend to do that when he was surprised... Walking over to the displays, he quickly put them back in their rightful places on top of the cabinet.
"Um, yes... I'm rather certain that was not addressed towards us. Can't even begin to imagine what it was for, though."
In reality, that voice did sound awfully familar, he just couldn't place it at the moment...

@silvia@ Meanwhile, oblivious to all the events that hard occurred while she away away, Silvia returned to the waiting room. The errand had been a short one, but she really had to take care of it immediately. Running a business was like that, after all. Looking around the waiting room, however, she deduced that Venice's appointment hadn't quite finished yet, as the beast wasn't to be found. With a sigh, she took a seat.

Venice may not have been there, but what she did find could very well have been terrifying. Or annoying. Whatever the case, a rotund woman was now practically in the theater owner's face. "Silvia, my darling! Quite a fancy running into you here!"

@silvia@ One could just about see the cold jolt that went down the red-headed women's spine at the sudden appearance of... it. Still, though, she kept her composure.
She wasn't well known for her acting talents for nothing, afterall.
"Why hello, Adie! What are you doing here?"
No, seriously. What were you doing here.

"Oh, I'm just here to my precious little Duchess can have her routine checkup! I want to make sure she's in tip top health for breeding season, you know," Adie made a series of gestures as she spoke, "So how have you been, darling? It's been so long since I've seen you... why, I could think you were avoiding me!" a boisterous laugh, "Still taking care of that hybrid I presume?"

@silvia@ Actress or not, one of her brows did wander upwards with the last comment.
"Why, yes, Venice is still with me and has been doing absolutely fine. As for not meeting, well, you know how it is. I've been very busy." Silvia laid heavy emphasis on the very, because it wasn't just excusing why she'd not met with ... Blimpy... earlier, but also because she was preemptively vetoing any suggest she may have for an unwanted 'get together'.
It was difficult enough being around her now, after all.

Speak of the hedgemink, for while the two women conversed with each other, a pair of golden eyes peeked out from behind the back door. Spotting the extravagantly dressed woman who owned him, as well as the fat pile of lard he never particularly liked, Venice bounded from the room toward his owner. "Hi Silvie, I'm all done!"

*insert highpitch girly squeal of happiness here* "VENNIE!"
If he looked in the direction of the cry of unbridled joy, he would see a periwinkle hedgehog hurling herself at him.

Soon afterwards, Luke followed the hedgemink back into the waiting room. He didn't say anything, as Venice's announcement (and subsequent incomming hedgehog) was sufficent for both of them. Instead, he simply looked at Silvia, smiled, and nodded, trying to signal her to come over so he could discuss the medical results with her... and payment, of course. Compassionate and generous though he was, that was still kinda needed to keep his office running.

"You haven't found anything, have you?"

Duchess pouted playfully, as if the floating in the air was a common occurance.
"You're bein' Mean Vennie! All I wanted was a hug." She stuck out her bottom lip and made use of her big maroon eyes, getting a rather pathetic look on her face... very similar to one you'd get from a hospital room full of sick children for kicking 3 puppies and a kitten right in front of them.
"Why do you gotta be so mean ta meeeeee?" She whined lightly, "I thought we were frieeeends...."

"Ut! Put her down!" a distressed voice scolded. Scooping the light blue hedgehog out of the air and into her considerable sized bosom, Adie shot a glare down at Venice. "You should know better than to roughhouse with my dear sweet Duchess like that!" she continued to scold, turning her focus back toward her pet and burying her face into her fur, "Why, if anything happened to my sweet widdle baby girl I just don't know what I'd do, now would I? Mmmm no I wouldn't, my sweet little girl, yes, mommy loves youuuu, kisskisskiss~" Venice just kind of scrunched his face up at the two, slowly shying away until he turned and basically hid behind Silvia.

"Yes, I know, but rest assured that I checked him out for everything and Venice is perfectly fine."
The doctor then handed Silvia a medical bill for his services. As he did so, he quickly glanced around to see who was next, his eyes immediately landing on Phoebe and Dash, the latter whom Luke immediately recognized. Ah, so he was able to find an owner... that was a relief. Looking back at Phoebe (whom he did not recognize... there'd have to be introductions), he nodded to let them know that they were next in line.
