"This sort of thing never is," she replied. By now she'd moved on to reconstructing the cloak's hood. "It'll just take patience... And hope, I suppose." Her delicate hands worked the needle carefully, but apparently the conversation had split her concentration for a moment. All of a sudden Rouge yelped and shook her hand, apparently having pricked her finger. The bat paused to suck on the wound, then examined it, and was pleased to see that it apparently hadn't broken skin. "Anyway," she resumed, "I'll help you with Nik however I can, if you'd like."

Rob glanced over quickly at Rouge when she hurt herself, but upon realizing she was okay, relaxed. "I'd appreciate that," he said. "I guess the thing to do for now is just try to get him used to us." Beyond that moment an awkward sort of silence seemed to fall. Rocking back and forth on his feet Rob munched down a few more apple slices while watching his companion. Finally with a glance out the window he seemed to resolve himself. "Hmm. I should probably see about bringing some meat in for later..." he paused. "... You know, I could probably help you out in the garden later too..."

Rouge smiled faintly, though it was directed at the fabric. "I'd appreciate it," she said softly. " It's difficult to pull up the root vegetables." At that moment, she rose from the desk and shook out the now repaired and improved garment, checking it for loose threads and missed tears. Finding it satisfactory, the bat turned to Rob and draped it over his shoulders. "Is it okay? I'm sorry if the extra weight is bothersome..."

Taking a moment to poke his arms through the sleeves and lifted up his hood, Rob moved his arms a bit, getting a feel for newly improved garment. "Little heavier than normal, but, nothing I won't be able to get used to," he smiled widely. Then, in what to Rouge was probably an unexpected move, the hedgehog leaned forward and kissed her gently on the cheek. "Brilliant job, dove. Thank you!" He then hesitated awkwardly, not noticing the feint blush on his cheeks as he turned and scooped up his quiver. "Well, er, I guess I best be off then. I'll see you later!" he said as he shuffled toward the door.

Rouge's cheeks had pinkened with surprise and embarrassment as the hedgehog made his exit from the lodge. Quite unexpected, indeed. But then, Rob had always been rather affectionate with her; it just seemed to be his way. ... Although, she hadn't really noticed him doing that to others in the village. Regardless, the seamstress set about packing up her supplies and cleaning the mess from her host's floor, as she had no intention of leaving Rob's room in shambles. Rouge couldn't help but ponder over his departure, though... He really seemed pleased with the results she'd given him. It was definitely a pleasant change from the stress he'd been going through. The bat only hoped she could keep him so happy; fortune in Meadowood changed like the wind, and it would be easy for something else to turn up that would disappoint him. Rouge's ears drooped behind her head. Like if he ever found out what I did.Her satchel now repacked, the bat made a hastey retreat from Rob's lodge -- which came to an abrupt halt about halfway down the staircase. There was that dizzy feeling again. Rouge drew a deep breath and pressed a hand to her forehead. Was she really that undernourished? She didn't even feel that hungry. I... suppose I should go get something to eat before going home, she silently decided. After all, a treebourne village wasn't exactly the best place to be experiencing vertigo. Tightly clutching the handrail, Rouge descended the rest of the stairs and slowly set a course for the kitchen.
