Shaking off the feeling of embarrassment, Rob frowned at Ridgy's report, glancing up at the tree they were standing in. Indeed, the leaves did look sickly, but, glancing back the direction he'd come from... "Are you sure it isn't just this tree? I just came from further in the village and everything seemed fine..."

"Well, I.....uh....hm..." Ridgy paused. "Well it at least is MORE than one tree. I mean, one tree didn't make all this mess." he said indicating the leaves around him. "I think maybe this may be coming from deeper in the woods. Perhaps closer to where Mercia used to be. I am going to need a team to help me research."

At those fateful words, the chameleon suddenly revealed himself, and boy did he look excited. "I wanna go!!" he cried enthusiastically, practically jumping in place. "I'll help, I'll help!! I wanna go to Mercia!!"

Glancing over at the boy, Rob glared. "My wrist still hurts." he said slowly.

"...." Espio's excitement wilted and whithered not too unlike the leaves in Ridgy's hands. Staring at the wooden planks beneath their feet woefully, the teen mumbled a quiet, " Yessir." So much for his hope that their make-up on the archery range got him out of being grounded.

Manic shrugged. "Meh, its probably all the junk comming from Mercia, starting to mess things up."

Ridgy tilted his head towards Manic and gave a half nod. "Manic will do. We may need to get into some places we can't access normally." He paused "Who else might be available?"

" I'd go if I could," Espio pouted below his breath, folding his arms and kicking the boardwalk.

Folding his arms and glancing up at the branches above them, Rob frowned. "Aye. If this is effecting more than one tree than it might be worth investigating..." one of his ears flicked slightly as he thought it over. "Maybe Rouge should also go with you." The thought of Rouge caused him to frown even deeper, recalling her condition the day before...

At that, the chameleon snorted and rolled his eyes. "If you can get her out of bed, that is." Espio scowled and turned to lean over the railing. How come SHE gets to go on missions when she's just laying around all day, but he WANTS to go and can't?!

"Well, I don't know. It sounds like she's not feeling very well." Ridgy said, the sympathy in his voice almost overcompensating in tone. He shook this head and boldly added. "After all, she belongs to the entire village, and I'd be remiss if anything happened to do her any sort of harm."

Manic snorted. "Dude, you do realize how that sounds, right?" He shrugged then. "I'm tellin you guys its just the junk that the factories keep pumpin out. The only way we're gonna be able to do anything about that is by making bonfires out of 'em and turning Izty into a paperweight."

Rob had only partially heard Manic's statement. What struck him instead was Espio's. "She's still in bed at this time?" he asked quizzically. It was quickly replaced by concern. "Did she at least seem okay?"

((Rob snip collab'd with Jamie)) Espio couldn't immediately be bothered to answer; he seemed to have taken great interest in hocking up some phlegm to spit over the side of the guardrail. "ESPIO!!" The boy jumped in place, having been jolted back into the conversation, and turned back around to his guardian. "Eh, she's fine," he eventually replied, refolding his arms behind his head. "She listened to me, but wouldn't answer me. Couldn't even be assed to look up." Espio's mouth scrunched as though he'd tasted something sour. She's nice and all, but she really can be cold sometimes.

"She was probably trying to ignore you dude," Manic said jokingly, "I know I do when I'm trying to get some Zs and you won't shut it."

"Screw you, Manic!" Espio retorted, though he grinned while saying it. "If you're SOOOOO hell-bent on ignoring me, you're always welcome to come sleep out here with the bugs and bird poop!"

"Well, uh...it seems, interesting here," Ridgy stammered, scratching the back of his head. "Buuut If I am going to save the entire forest, time is of the essence. Let's go, Manic!" He gave an arrogant tilt of his head as he twisted around and walked his way down the platform to ground level.

"Uh huh," Rob muttered absently while his thoughts drifted to what he was told and the previous day's events. He glanced up suddenly. "I'll... catch up with you lot later. I have something important to take care of." Turning away quickly he began to walk off.

Manic just smirked at Espio's retort. "Isn't that what I was doing?" he asked. He then got up and hopped over to the walkway with the others heading after Ridgy. "Ok man, but I still say you're overreacting a tad about this."

"...... Dude, shut up!!" Upon realizing the group was dispersing, and he'd soon be left alone with nothing to prevent him from getting to work, Espio glanced back and forth between the departing parties, then turned and scampered after the hooded hedgehog. "Hey, Rob, wait for me!!"

Manic wasn't too sure about going to check out Mercia with just a girl happy opossum, but he shrugged and followed anyway. It beat staying here and getting stuck with watch duty.
