THAT had not been the reaction she was expecting, and before she could help herself, let out a small laugh, a genuine one, before offering to help Venice up. "Sorry 'bout that, Venny. Didn't mean to startle you." The carrit's tail twitched lightly, as she tried to hide her mild amusement. "You ok?"

Mourning his now sore rump, Venice nodded, "Yeah, I'm fine. It's okay," he answered with a rosy tint across his face. Getting up and eyeing his pillow, which was now going to need a cleaning, his mouth twisted to one side. Then with a glance over at his toys the hedgemink mentally willed them back to their proper places. "Well, not to sound like I'm trying to rush you, but I guess now you'll be wanting to head... off..." the last part came out slowly, as when he finally looked back at the carrit he suddenly realized just how, well, different she looked when clean. She was actually rather attracti-- No, bad hedgemink, Venice thought with a quick and subtle shake of his head to get his mind back on track. "I mean I doubt you'll wanna wait around while I'm getting washed up..."

The carrit, as if unaware of her new effect on the mink, just shrugged. "I don't mind. The break from the norm is actually kinda nice." Patches almost mused, stretching a little before glancing around. "I mean, it's not often I'd get to be in a genuine mansion." Or even an average house.

"Well, uh, okay," Venice shrugged. "I'm not kidding when I say I take long baths though. Should probably get onto that." Nodding awkwardly he began inching toward the bathroom door.

The carrit let out another of those genuine laughs of hers, waving him off as she ALMOST smiled. "I'm sure I can find something to entertain myself. Don't worry, I won't break anything."

Venice just gave her a quizzical look, then shrugged and headed into the bathroom. It felt awkward leaving her out there by herself like that.

As the door closed to the bathroom, Patches began looking around the room, before she started walking around, holding out a hand to trail slowly across a few of the hedgemink's particularly noteworthy possessions... A set of paints and brushes, one of which she picked up to take a closer look at, before setting it back where she found it... A violin, that seemed well cared for, AND well used, although she wasn't the best judge of such things, and the frame of a painting that, she could safely assume, was painted by the room's owner. Her attention was then, however, drawn to a set of collars, all with various precious stones on them. They seemed to be spares for Venice's normal collar, and were probably VERY valuable... or at least, the gems would be. In a moment, ingrained habits were kicking in, and she'd picked up a collar, trying to figure out how she could get the gems mounted in it loose. But this line of thought was quickly stamped out as she mentally berated herself. What're you doin', Patches? This guy's been nothing but nice to you, and you're planning on ROBBING him! With a slight flinch at her own mental chastisement, the carrit placed the collar back, and went back to looking around the room, her tail swishing quietly. Venice WAS being awfully nice to her, MORE than nice, even... And if she'd been younger, she could have imagined she even belonged in this room, maybe even with these things, but... She knew better. She knew reality was waiting outside for her, waiting to remind her that she lived in alleys and doorways now. But until then... Patches smiled to herself as she flopped back onto the hedgemink's bed, sprawling out a bit. Until then... She could pretend, for a little while... So it was with this thought in mind, with that comfortable bed under her, that she... dozed off.

For a long time after entering the bathroom Venice merely stood at the door and mentally stewed. Something about leaving the carrit out there by herself bothered him. Maybe it was the stories he'd heard about strays, maybe it was the fear that Silvia would suddenly come home and find her. Whatever it was he suddenly felt himself feeling slightly queasy. Gently pressing his hand down on the knob the mink silently cracked the door open and peered out, as if to make sure all was still well. There was Patches, laying on his bed. Everything looked in order. Carefully closing the door again the hedgemink let out an exhale. Satisfied as he was going to be he wandered off to get himself washed off. He probably shouldn't take any longer than he needed to, he mentally reasoned. It would be rude to keep his guest waiting any longer than necessary, and besides that, he still had to return to the theater. A short time passed as the mink hybrid worked to free his silvery fur of the filth plaguing it. As much as he would have liked to have simply soaked for awhile after that, he quickly pulled himself out as soon as he was satisfactorily clean. Following that were the motions of getting tried off, fussing with the cockatiel marijuana fan-like locks of fur on his head, brushing out his mane and tail, getting dressed... As soon as he was satisfied he wandered back out, glancing around for the carrit and spotting her still laying there on the bed. Quietly he wandered over. "... You awake?"

The carrit, in response, just shifted, rolling towards Venice's voice while mumbling to herself... something about "five more minutes". It seemed for a streetwise stray, when she was out, she was out. Then again, Venice was being quiet and.. well, not startling. But either way, once she was on her side, Patches curled up into a loose ball... And started purring quietly. Yeah, she was pretty comfortable, the only thing disrupting the image of her being a well cared for pet was her worn out old collar, which actually looked like she'd tried cleaning it too.

The hybrid seemed to deflate. Now what was he going to do? Sitting down on the edge of the bed he silently scolded himself over not having thought this through better. He needed to get back to the theater. So, what was he going to do? Wake her up and just kick her back out on the street? Leave her here all by herself? Briefly he considered levitating her out and dropping her off somewhere. No, that would be a terrible thing to do... He sighed. It had to happen sooner or later, he supposed. " Um..." he said softly, gently poking her in the arm.

The physical contact seemed for effective, as her eyes slowly began to crack open, mumbling again in her still half-drowsy state as she started looking around. " Rachel, m'still sleepy... Rae?" Patches' eyes opened a bit more as she looked around, then looked up at Venice, remembering where she actually was. "Oh... I... I fell asleep, didn't I?" The carrit almost sighed, reaching up to rub at her eyes, although the motion in this case seemed more suited to... preemptively drying them. "Sorry about that... Must've been more tired than I thought..."

Awkwaaaaaaard. Venice bit his lip, suddenly seeming to have found great interest in the hands he now had folded onto his lap. "It's okay..." he answered, and then sighed. Maybe this was why associating with strays was considered so bad. "Um. I... need to be getting back to the theater..."

"Hm? Oh, right... Your owner's prolly worried." The carrit stood, smiling at the mink before stretching, and heading for the door to his room. "We should prolly get going then."

Venice nodded, heading toward the door as well. "Right. I guess we should."

Once she reached the door, she started heading back downstairs, but at a pace where Venice could easily keep up, or even pass her if he so chose... mainly because she was taking another look around at everything as she walked. Look at all this stuff... Venny here's one lucky mink. The carrit glanced back, then her eyes went back to looking around, as she had a small mental chuckle. I just wonder how he managed to turn out so... friendly.

Venice's mind was full of thoughts of its own as the two headed toward the front door. What had started all of this? He had stepped on her tail. He'd more than made up for that now, right? He owed her nothing... and she stood to get him into a great deal of trouble. She was, after all, a stray. So why did he have a small nagging feeling about dumping her back onto the streets? Something about it felt wrong. If only there were more he could do... "Well, uh..." he began awkwardly as they passed the front door and began heading for the gate. "It was nice meeting you."

"Yeah... was nice meeting you too." Once they REACHED the gate, Patches paused, glancing at the mink, and... actually smiling at him. "I really haven't thanked you enough. I mean, you've done a lot more than you had to..." The carrit then moved closer, one hand behind her back, as she brought up the other, and cupped Venice's cheek, drawing him closer, like she was going to whisper something in his ear... Which she actually did. "Venny, you're sweet, and Eden could use more people like you in it, even if we're just beasts... Don't ever change." Then, her smile bordering on becoming a grin... she planted a kiss on the mink's cheek, before she took off down the street. "See ya around, Ven!"

The action had stunned him. He smiled sheepishly. "S-sure... see yo--YEOW" the mink hybrid yelped, leaping into the air in surprise after he had subconsciously grabbed the gate with his telekinesis and nearly slammed it shut on his tail. Bringing his tail around and placing a hand over his now beating heart he glanced back at where Patches had been heading off... only to find she was now gone. Bringing a hand up to his cheek he stared after her for a long moment. In a way he couldn't describe he felt sad she had gone so quickly, and somewhere deep down he hoped he might get a chance to see her again. It was probably unlikely though. So, with a sigh, he turned and began to head back for the theater.
