After a bit of rummaging, Pachacamac found what he was looking for- a small packet of matches. Unfortunately, further inspection showed there were only a few left. Hopefully it wouldn't take long for the fire to catch and he wouldn't need to strike more then one... but that was the best case scenario. He looked up again to spot where his daughter had wandered to, and, as she wasn't out of sight, felt no need to reprimand her. He wasn't entirely comfortable doing so while the elder was here anyway. And speaking of him... Pachacamac glanced again over to Athair, wondering what the old coot was up to at the moment.

Athair was still completely still, his mind filled with a swirling fog... and no matter how he tried, he couldn't seem to clear it, to see beyond it. With a stifled curse, Athair opened his eyes. It wasn't often that he failed to see ANYTHING in his divinations, but it was always at the very least, annoying.[rand=9178043562778994395807218981992567105428980100277469494352836885]

"Hngh.." Tikal let out a soft grunt as she staggared awkwardly with the weight of her rock-filled cloak, apparently attempting to make as few trips as possible. Upon making it to her father's side, the young echidna attempted to set the makeshift sack down gently, but her shuddering hands ended up dropping it all together. "S-Sorry!!" she apologized quickly.

Pachacamac muttered under his breath. At the very least she managed to get them over here before dropping them. Reaching over (and wincing as he did so, as he was using his bad arm, incidently), he began to place the stones into the shallow depression of the fire pit*. Fire Pit: Just because it's shallow doesn't make my feelings any less valid

Athair heard the clatter of the stones behind him as Pachacamac began placing stones into the fire pit, and turned. ". . . Move over." Athair sighed, and he stood, and walked over, more or less nudging his great grandson to the side, and began placing stones into the pit, following the pattern the younger male had started. He may not like the echidna, but Pachacamac was still his great grandson, and that arm would get no better if he started exerting it like that... And the big puggle would be even harder to deal with if his arm got any worse.

Pachacamac frowned. He could do it himself. But if the old man insisted... that was his own business. Shifting out of the way, Pachacamac stared out at the lake. Whenever Athair was done with those rocks, he'd start the kindling. "..."

Meanwhile, the female echidna looked... uncertain. "Should... Should I bring more stones? ...Or maybe try finding food?"

Once he had the stones arranged to his satisfaction, Athair nodded, then noted Tikal's question. Rather than answer, he turned to Pachacamac, raising a wrinkled brow. Let's see what he picks, shall we?

Peering into the firepit, Pachacamac shook his head, "That'll be enough." Sitting back and rummaging once again through the pack, he retrieved two tins. "It's getting too dark to forage either, so we'll just have to make do with this." He paused, as if suddenly realizing something, turning and staring off into the bush. "... and the can opener was in one of the other packs."

Athair frowned as he noticed Tikal seem to wilt at the reprimand. "Perhaps someone should go find it then." The elder nods as an idea seems to just come to him. "I'll go look for it." He then turns to Tikal. "I may need a set of young eyes to help me find my way once it gets dark, however." The replied request/suggestion was obvious.

The darker echidna bristled. "The site where the pack was dropped was a good deal away from here. It wouldn't be wise to travel there in the dark. Not to mention those demonic machines may still be prowling the area."

Athair just nodded silently. "Then we can go find it in the morning." Athair examined the tins carefully, while Pachacamac was still holding them. "Hm. You could simply put a hole in the top with one of your claws, couldn't you?"

Pachacamac's reply wasn't much over a mummble, as he manipulated the can in his hand. It wasn't a terrible suggestion but... He shrugged and gave it a go. [dice=2] (1- Works, 2- Fails) Open can! Or at least, a punctured one. Which, technically, is open.[rand=0410256731104611258382552388213855000364361590990958140953807628887606]

Athair simply nodded, glancing over at Tikal again, before busying himself with the kindling. At least until Pachacamac was done with the tins of food.

And at that moment, Tikal sat with her knees tightly hugged, silently awaiting whatever her father would ordain next. She sat out of his immediate reach, but at the same time, was not willing to get too far away from him -- especially after the stunt she'd just pulled. The young echidna had no doubt she was in for an earful sooner or later. It'd be in her best interest to avoid adding to her list of crimes.

With some difficulty, Pachacamac managed to open both cans, setting them down besides the fire pit, and then rubbed his hands. "... It isn't going to be enough for all of us."

Without missing a beat, Athair held up his hand. "Split it between you both. I've eaten already." Which, in a way was true. He HAD eaten earlier that day. But he'd lived in the wilderness long enough that missing one meal wouldn't hurt him.

Pachacamac gave the elder a look, then shrugged, leaning over to hand one of the open cans to his daughter. If the old bag of bones didn't want to eat, then fine. More for him.

Tikal blinked in surprise as she received a full can of food. Was ALL of this to be hers? Pachacamac never split food equally. Her eyes trailed over to her extended grandfather. Paccy's behavior was always better around company. Even so, Tikal felt guilty over receiving a larger portion than usual while Athair fasted. Scooting a couple inches toward him, the priestess softly offered, "I don't mind sharing..."

Athair smiled at his extended grandaughter, and shook his head. "I insist, child. You need it more than I do." His smile shrank a little, as he got himself comfortable. "I'll be fine."

A dim smile crept across her face. The Elder is so kind, she thought as a warm feeling stirred in her breast. I wish I'd known him more when I was a puggle. Then, just as quickly, that warm fuzzy feeling was extinguished as her attention returned to Pachacamac. Tikal's mouth pursed like she'd just tasted something sour; she'd already reminded herself that Paccy never split food equally. As she knew she wouldn't be able to ask it verbally, the priestess gave her father a facial expression that asked, "Should I save some of this for you?"

However, her father wasn't even looking at her, instead staring out at the lake, apparently lost in some thought or another.

Athair, who had begun tracing small patterns in the sand, glances up at the sound, his eyes scanning the forest for movement. "Hm."

Returning his attention to the food, Pachacamac sampled a small amount of it, his face instantly scrunching up at the flavour, followed by rotating the can and inspecting it's label. Catfood. The person he'd traded with gave him CATFOOD.

Tikal picked slowly at her own meal; luckily, she'd ended up with a can of corn. As she tipped another small handful into her mouth, the echidna's head turned toward the source of the unusual sound. "....What was that?" she asked once she'd swallowed.

The noise only grew louder and closer as the moments passed. What came out of the brush however... was hardly frightening. An Elderly dog with a walking cane and an old very slight limp came into sight. "Isabella, Are you certain you heard voic-" He caught sight of the echidnas, "Oh, Hello." Soren grinned at the three. "I know I heard voices Poppy." And out came a younger dog, her voice with a melodic quality to it and she glanced in the direction Her grandfather was looking. ".... See I told you."

The larger echidna had JUST resolved that he was hungry enough to eat what he had anyway when... Strangers from the bush. Not just any strangers, but non-echidnas. Had he been an ancient echidna, covered with spines from head to toe, he would of been currently bristling. Instead, he just glared at the newcomers. "..."

Without even glancing at Pachacamac, Athair gave him a warning tap on the back of his head with his cane. "Hello."
