Though she didn't do any kind of verbal greeting, Tikal smiled at the newcomers. She was always glad to meet new people, but her father usually ruined the experience with his prejudices. Hopefully, this interlude would be different now that the Elder was here as well.

Soren's eyes widened slightly as he noticed the beads on the elder echidna, He was speaking to a priest. "Forgive us for intruding, but Isabella heard voices, and we are in need of a place to rest." Bella frowned at the use of her whole name and rolled her eyes. She noticed the girl smiling and smiled back.m

The elder smiled, and motioned to the clear area near the fire. "Then please, join us. There's safety in numbers, after all." A pointed glance in Pachacamac's direction as he said this, as if reminding the younger echidna that he'd said much the same thing earlier.

Pachacamac simply... muttered and continued to eat his catfood.

Tikal meanwhile appeared to be trying to hold back excitement. The Elder really WAS going to allow them to stay! It'll be nice to talk to someone new!... If I'm allowed, anyway. With another sheepish smile that betrayed her giddiness, the priestess squeaked out a quiet, " Hi!!"

Soren smiled and made his way over, "Thank you, Priest. It has been a long day." He sat down near the firepit and sighed. It had been a very long day. Bella didn't need to be told twice, she quickly made her way to to the other girl and sat down, "Hello, I'm Bella." m

"My name is Tikal," the young echidna answered with a wide smile. Then, looking down briefly into her can, the priestess looked up with another one and asked, "...Would you like something to eat?"

Athair smiled, glad to see Tikal a little more relaxed again, as he turned to the elder canine. "Please, call me Athair." The echidna rested his hands on his cane, which was once more across his lap as he sat. "Tell me, where might you two be from?" Another smile, although he gave Pachacamac a glance that just about yelled "BEHAVE, PUGGLE".

Which he didn't see. He was apparently extremely absorbed with his meal.

Soren laid his cane by his side, "We have been many places, We were traveling with a troupe for many years, but I'm afraid we were attacked recently. Isabella and I escaped." With that Soren sighed. Thinking of his lost friends, ones he'd know since Bella was a child, was not a pleasant train of thought in the least. Bella looked from her to the can and back, "Are you certain? It doesn't seem like much..." She didn't want to take food if they had too little as it was.m

"I don't mind," Tikal replied, her eyes practically sparkling. "I already had some. If you'd like some, go ahead!"

Pachamac glanced up for a moment at his daughter. It wasn't so bad that she was giving food away, no, it was that it was to Outsiders. He muttered slightly and continued his meal. It wasn't so bad, the food, that is, once he got past the strange taste...

The elderly echidna nodded, glancing at his two descendants. "My Great grandson and his daughter are in a similar situation, I'm afraid."

Soren glanced at the other two and nodded. "I see, Its truly sad what this world is becoming. Those metal beasts and the like." Bella smiled, very happy with the gesture, "Thank you Tikal, I am pretty hungry." m

The elderly echidna nodded, but... smiled softly, remembering what he'd learned from this place. "Perhaps not all is lost for this world." The priest turned hi head, looking towards the horizon for a moment. "It's not our time to try to heal the world anymore. We can only guide those who have come after us."

Pachacamac abruptly stood up, tossing the (now empty) can into the fire. Giving a short, and rather glare like, look at the newcomers, he walked off. "I'm going to find more firewood. It's going to be a long night."

As her father left the campsite, Tikal visibly brightened, no longer worried about his disapproval. Keeping the corn where they could both easily reach it, the echidna girl looked into Bella's face with intense curiosity. "So, ah... where are you guys coming from? And where are you going?"

Soren nodded. There was wisdom in those words. He did frown slightly at the look from the other echidna, but said nothing. Bella smiled, "We travel a lot, we lived with a troupe, We were in a town about a week or so ago, I don't remember what it was called. We never really have a place in mind when we go somewhere. It was fun though, we were an entertainment troupe." She grinned at the thought.m

Athair sighed as Pachacamac walked off, nodding apologetically to Soren. "Please excuse my great grandson. He doesn't like non-echidna's very much."

"Where are you from, Tikal?" Bella dusted her skirt.. not that that would get the stains out. "Its quite alright, Athair." He glanced at the girls and smiled, "At least it doesn't seem to run in the family."

"I... ..." The echidna chuckled. "You know, I really don't know. My father and I were part of a tribe that never stayed in one place for very long. I'm not sure where we were when I was born!" Tikal folded her arms against her knees and gazed up at the blackening sky. The stars were just starting to peek out of the darkness and twinkle down their greetings. "Our tribe was separated three years ago... I really miss my cousin."

Bella nodded, she could understand that, "We became separated from our troupe a few days ago. We have been with them since I was little... Lets talk of more pleasant things.. What do you do for fun?"

Tikal frowned at that. It was difficult to have fun with Pachacamac breathing down her neck. Even so, she could still clearly remember the many days when she had fled her father's care to stay with Lilli's family. There were fun things to do over there. The priestess's frown was replaced with a longing smile. "I used to do a lot of crafts," she finally said. "I liked making all sorts of things... headbands, quilts, bracelets... I really miss doing that. And Lilli and I used to play lots of great games! ...Well, when she could focus long enough, we did." She let out a short sigh. "...I don't get to do much of that now, but.. I still sing sometimes, when Father's not too close, or if he's asleep. And I still try to practice the spiritual arts when I can..." Tikal's expression again turned downcast. " I'm not very good at it, though."

She blinked at Tikal for a moment... The thing about her father bothered her, but Bella didn't want to press... It didn't seem like something she was comfortable with. Bella's ears did perk at the mention of singing, "Other than sewing I don't know much about crafts... I love singing as well, but... I'm not sure I understand what you mean by the spiritual arts."

"It's using spirit power to be able to receive the will of Antowas," Tikal replied. "Antowas speaks to us all, really, but certain individuals are especially receptive. Those chosen ones become priests and priestesses so they can interpret Antowas' messages for those around them." The echidna girl scratched her head uncertainly. "I come from a long line of priests and priestesses. Sometimes I feel sure that Antowas is trying to speak to me... but I always mess it up."

Athair smiled over towards the two girls, nodding. "There are a great many things I'm glad do not run in the family." Athair glanced the direction his great grandson had gone, frowning slightly.

Bella looked at her with wide eyes and an enthralled look. "You're a priestess? Thats so exciting, do you have to study alot... I've heard some read palms.. do you read palms?" Soren smiled, "It seems they're getting along quite well. I'm glad.. Bella tends to be... somewhat...well... rude sometimes." Soren chuckled slightly, since it was slightly an understatement.

"It's good to see Tikal smiling again, even if only for a little while..." Athair overheard Tikal's self-criticism, and frowned slightly. "Her confidence, though... Her father... Never mind." The elder shook his head slightly. "It's a family affair."

Bella smiled at her, "Could you try? I'd love to experience something like that. We had a lot of different talents but nothing like that." She looked just about ready to rip off her glove. Soren glanced at the older echidna and smiled, "Then I won't pry. Far be it for me to stick my large nose where it doesn't belong." With a grin he looked back at the fire.
