"....I'm on thirty pages. I have another fifty to go." Ridgy concluded and took a seat next to Manic with a pot of tea in one hand, and the cup already in his mouth. "Hmmm...." He murmured to himself, indicating that even with something over his lips he still intended to make a little noise. "So..." He said with a wet gulp. "Do you mind if I ask what you've just come back from, or is this, you know, priveleged information?"

Mmm, yes that was a good sound, Manic thought of the sound of the waffle iron. Not long now, but until then he decided to have a bit of fun. "Nah, it wasn't much, just a standard propooganda mission, involving the wrapping of...2-ply materials around key sites," Manic told Ridge.

"Hmm. Yes. What does the toilet paper actually do to Robotnik's technological devices?" Ridgy took another sip of his tea.

"Well he's gotta send somebody to go clean it up doesn't he? So that'd be 'bots doing that instead of something else," he told him, making a note of it mentally. He'd die if he could actually get Rob to approve a mission to TP the Mercia HQ.

Ridgy bobbed his head in and out in a half-nod/half-shake. It was hard to tell if he was confused. Well, actually, it was obvious he was confused and difficult to tell whether or not he was pretending to understand. "It seems the most meaningless things set Robotnik off. He shouldn't have built the eyesore in the first place if he was so concerned about its aesthetic beauty. Now the column-lined relics of ancient Mercia, that was architecture worth preserving..." Manic would need to act fast if he hoped to avoid another long historical rant.

Or maybe he wouldn't, as at that moment Rouge interrupted by setting a plate with two fresh, fluffy waffles in front of Manic, closely followed by a fork. "Toppings?" she asked flatly.

"There any syrup left?" he asked eagerly.

"..." Turning and consulting the aging refridgerator, the bat peered inside, then turned and said... (1 = syrup, 2 = none) [dice=2] "You're in luck." Cue bottle of syrup hitting the table.[rand=13279349583477373107571810251271169412434454797629357046237244763]

"Righteous!" Manic exclaimed at the bottle vanished off the table almost as soon as Rouge had put it there as Manic swiped it and began adding its contents to his breakfast.

"Absolutely exquisite." Ridgy swooned. "I am very tempted in reneging on previously stated manners for cooking as lovely as that." He turned up his nose. "But no, I do have to watch my diet. I have to keep in shape should I ever be needed on another mission." Ridgy stood with his cup of tea still in hand looking as though he was about to leave.

Without much acknowledgement to the commotion at the table -- even though Ridgy was apparently both complimenting and insulting her food in the same sentence -- Rouge instead busied herself with digging up the oven mitts from one of the many drawers below the counter. The aroma of fresh bread with a hint of cinnamon had already saturated the air of the kitchen like a sweet, natural incense. Upon finding the proper heat protection, the bat returned to the oven and carefully withdrew the tray of bagels, setting it atop the range to cool.

Moments later the cloaked figure of Rob shuffled back into the room and quickly sought a vacant chair, giving a half-hearted nod to everyone as he moved. Once seated he rested the side of his head in his palm, somehow appearing to be twice as exhausted than he had when he left.

A moment or two after Rob had entered, drawn by the smells coming from the kitchen, and because he'd seen Rob come in, Vic entered, stopping near Rob. Why would he have cared if Rob was going into the kitchen? Because he heard something he thought the leader of their group should hear about. "Uhm, I just heard a lot of noise coming from Espio's hut. Should someone go see if he's ok?"

After taking a moment to blow on the one to the far right to hasten its cooling process, Rouge scooped a bagel onto a waiting plate with a spatula and placed it on the table before Rob, warning, "Be careful, it's still hot." Without bothering to ask, the bat also retreived a bottle of honey from the pantry, and placed it next to Rob's bagel. Although she was curious about what Vic had just announced, additional questioning wouldn't bring about answers any faster, so instead she simply asked the squirrel, "Are you hungry?

"He's fine," Rob answered dryly with an irritated frown. A frown which quickly changed into an appreciative, though worn, smile to Rouge. "Aye. Thank you, dove."

The squirrel's expression was... a little confused, at first, but he decided to just take Rob at his word, before responding to Rouge. "Yeah, haven't had breakfast yet..." After eyeballing the bagels for a moment, Vic decided to pass on them, at least for now. "I'll just grab some fruit."

"Few have." Ridgy said dryly, as though bragging about how early he'd been up. Most unfortunately he was not leaving, only standing up 'To help the tea go down,' a thought that may have occurred to anyone familiar with Ridgy's usual banter. He grinned upon Vic's appearance. The squirrel and him were alike in the sense that they wanted to do more for the cause than they could right now, but were determined to do so. "Say Vic? After breakfast, perhaps you'd like to help me organize some maps I left out back at home. I'm afraid I have a habit of tearing the place apart on the midst of a breakthrough."

Meanwhile Manic enjoyed his waffles, though he did stop to make gagging motions at Rob and Rouge's bit of lovely dubby when they weren't looking in his direction.

Which Rouge for one failed to acknowledge... but then, there wasn't too much she DID acknowledge. Instead she approached Rob once more, since Vic appeared to be making his own meal, and gingerly tugged his hood off the back of his head. "Your cloak is getting tattered," she stated quietly, her gentle touch tracing its way through his quills. "I can repair it for you after lunch."

Rob sat up a little straiter. "Um, well um, I, well..." Rob fumbled for words, flinching slightly as her hand stroked his spines. He cleared his throat and gave a decidedly twitterpated smile. "If you don't mind I'd appreciate it. You don't have to go out of your way though..."

The squirrel wasn't really making a meal, per se, but was just snagging an apple, taking a bite out of it and chewing it absentmindedly as he considered Ridgy's request. "Sure, why not? Maybe I'll pick up something from looking at 'em."

"I'll have it mended by evening," was all the more she said about the subject. Instead, Rouge's eyebrows furrowed when Rob turned to look back, her attention settling on the considerable welt that he'd been hiding. The bat's lips pursed. " Oh dear..." Just slightly down the boardwalk, a purple chameleon stopped short. ... Well, purple was a relative term; his body was spattered with numerous white, flakey patches of dead scales, and his face looked a little flushed. Espio grimaced as the echoes of several voices greeted him before he'd even reached the kitchen. Including Rob's. The teen frowned and again considered just getting straight to work... but he really was famished, especially after having expended so much energy during his and Rob's... "discussion". A loud growl from his stomach reinforced the notion to face the fire, and Espio sighed and began squirming out of as much shedded skin as he could manage. The chameleon groaned and shuddered; he really, REALLY didn't want to face anyone right now, let alone half the village, and shedding right in front of everyone really wasn't a great way to escape attention. With a shallow preparatory breath, Espio quietly slipped into the kitchen with his eyes pointedly focused on the floor. "There..." At that moment, Rouge delicately rested a washcloth containing a handful of ice cubes against Rob's forehead. " This should help the swelling..."

"Hwy, Esp!" Manic shouted, waving to his friend over a mouthfull of waffles.

The chameleon sighed. While normally he thrived on attention, Espio did not want to talk to anyone, including his best friend. Giving only the slightest grunt of acknowledgment, the teen shuffled his way to the pantry to retrieve a box of cereal. Despite being several years old, most of the cereal they salvaged was only the tiniest bit stale, if in fact stale at all. "...." There was that tingly feeling again. Espio clenched his eyes and shuddered as body rejected even more of the scales along his back.

"You can't help but do just that." Ridgy gave a nod, turning around in an attempt to make another pass at Rouge. "And if you'd like, you can-"
Ridgy was interrupted by the sudden chilling presence of the chameleon. He often appreciated the young impetuous Espio for being one of the people who would listen to him for long periods of time. Right now, however, something was telling Ridgy not to even start yapping.
He never listened to that thing whatever it was.
"Espio what's...." He paused. Then, he decided to turn around put his hands behind his head and boastfully (nervously?) chuckle. "Well, I should be getting back to work. Drop in any time Vic....Rouge....whoever!"

Vic just waved Ridgey off. He WOULD stop by, because he said he would, and the 'possum knew that... But he never said it'd be soon. He might be in the mood for another apple. He liked apples.

Rob winced slightly at the mark on his forehead suddenly being agitated, and even more with embarrassment when he realized its exposure. Grinning sheepishly he brought a hand up to hold the cloth in place. "You're too sweet. Thank you." And that was when he noticed Espio. His smile quickly vanishing.

It wasn't very sweet of me to GIVE you that injury, Rouge thought, her features falling ever so slightly. The bat left Rob's side without a reply and began to clean the counter of the various meal choices that had been prepared thus far. She wasn't the only one working silently. In what was an extremely unusual display given Espio's typically social presence, the chameleon prepared his breakfast without a word, or even a glance, to anyone in the room. Stranger still, he took a seat at a smaller table near the window, apparently as far from the others as he could get. As he hunched over his bowl, the only sounds were that of his cereal crunching in this mouth. Rouge meanwhile wiped down the counterspace with a damp rag, pondering the same issue with which she'd begun her routine. Without ceasing the clean-up, she softly said to no one in particular, "Someone needs to find out what the overlander eats." Espio's posture slumped slightly at the comment. It won't be ME, he wordlessly lamented. I'M forbidden from seeing it...

And without thinking about it, Vic was answering. "I could go. I doubt Ridgey's expecting me immediately, and I'm small, so I wouldn't be very scary."

However Espio's wanted solitude would die in infancy as Manic got up and set his plate down accross from him and pulled up a chair for himself. "Hey bud. You and Rob get whatever it was worked out?" he asked.
