Zipping through the hoverunit's hatch right before it closed, he skidded to a half right behind the two seats. "Yo, SWATheads! Is this a free ride or do you need to check my ticket?"

Sally, meanwhile, was still grunting and banging on the container so loudly that she couldn't even hear the hedgehog's arrival. "LET. ME. OUT. YOU. STUPID. SWAT. BOTS!!!"

The SWATbots jumped out of their seats (suprised, apparently*), turning and pointing their weapons at Sonic.
"HALT BY ORDER OF ROBOTNIK!"

In response, Sonic shot up the side of the wall of the sip, then leapt off in a spindash that would take him through both SWATbots. [dice=11] [dice=11][rand=47599810390759034110541258089276061009182579624331434102791985998776]

Finally the tantrum passed and Sally slumped against the side of the container and panted. The situation sucked, but on some level she found it comforting that no one with a pulse had witnessed her lose her composure. Suddenly she heard a commotion through the steel, and sat up straight again. "Sonic??" The princess tried once again to push the lid open, but in vain. It had obviously been locked in some way. Instead she banged a few more times on the side. "Sonic, in here!!"

Sonic barely heard her over all the noise HE was making, but he did. However he also spotted a whole squad of SWATs making for the craft too. "Hold that thought Sal!" he called as he hopped into the pilot seat. "Let's see..um let's try this one!" he said, slapping a lever forward. Luckily it happend to be the throttle. The Hover unit SHOT out of the docking bay like a torpedo, blowing Sonic back in his seat.

And Sonic wasn't the only one thrown back. Sally tumbled to the other side of the storage bin with a loud bang, but with the bin having been constructed of such heavy duty metal, it luckily did not tip. "SONIC!" the princess shouted, arguing with the momentum as she struggled to sit up. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Or TRYING to do, she added to herself.

Sonic managed to pull himself back up to the controls, just in time to see them heading straight for one of the rock spires around the lake. "YAAA!" He quickly pulled the craft into a hard right bank.

Aaaaand another tumble off to the side, this time landing Sally a bop to her head and leaving her envying the seatbelts up in front. It was almost as though shipping containers weren't built for passangers.

Managing to get the hoverunit on a stable path, Sonic breathed a sigh of releif before getting up and going to free Sally from her container.

Maybe in a way it was good that Sally was locked in a small, dark place. That way, she had no perception of what should be up or down and didn't get motion sickness from Sonic's wild ride. Every cloud has a silver metallic lining. Sally heard Sonic's footsteps scurry up, and she stood on her knees, the lid just a couple inches above her head. "Sonic?" she called out, her voice hollow as it bounced around in the cavity. "I can't budge this thing a bit. Can you see if it's locked down or something?" The princess pressed her palms to the ceiling but, as she expected, nothing happened beyond the muscles in her arms getting sore.

And 'lo, the capsule was locked. "Yeah, just give me a Sonic second Sal!" He pulled out Nicole again and pointed her at the lock. "Think you've got enough juice left to take care of this Nicole?"

Nicole beeped lowly, fewer of her buttons lit than before. "....Cannot-not connect with po-power source.... Rerouting..." There was another grind as the computer struggled to find an alternative path from her battery to the laser. After a few seconds of an unnatural clicking sound, Nicole announced, "Connection established... I-I-Initiali--" but before she could finish the laser again fired early, accompanied by a faint burning smell.

Luckily he HAD been pointing her at the lock, so it was cut enough for Sonic's purposes when the laser went off. "That's good enough babe." he said, putting her away. He then delivered a good kick to the locked, breaking it, and allowing him to open the container. "Princess Sally? We're sorry, but Hedgehog Air is gonna have to bump your ticket from cargo to first class."

[dice=6] Of course, the flight was then disturbed by some in-flight turbulence.
Actually, the SWATbots back at the base weren't just going to allow Sonic or the princess to just take one of the hover units and escape- ho no. That'd be letting them off too easily. Instead they were now in pursuit.[rand=367906696954098833238802855524212108048752952655815999477627860179]

[dice=10] Sally had just been climbing out of the bin, and about to thank Sonic for the help, when suddenly the ship lurched forward as it took a hit from a persuing hover unit and the pair (well trio counting Nicole) spilled to the floor. Sally immediately clammered to her feet and rushed for the controls. "We've got company!" she announced as she took the pilot's seat and buckled in. "You better hang on, I'm gonna try and get rid of them!" Without more warning than that, Sally pointed the nose of the airship almost straight down, followed by some fancy maneuvering through the rock pillars. (for if the chasing bots lose them) [dice=10][rand=4296651048269047932732909582456781177866912602997670213082410471]

Yeah, she lost them. She lost them so hard, they ran directly into the rock spires and exploded. WAY TO GO, TROOPS.[rand=040254752495192282009541712843867564266381376050495596637089956744]

Sonic, who had been desperatly hanging on to the cargo container while they dodged the other hover units, flopped into the gunner's seat. "Nice flying Sal!"

The princess flopped back into her seat with a long exhale. "Thanks. And thanks for helping me out, too." Sally turned to smile at him, adding, "I'm glad to see you're okay. I was worried about you." Grabbing the controls again, the ground squirrel was just about to set a course back to the base, but turned and took a hard sniff. "...What's that smell?"

"Smell?" Sonic echoed. "Uh, oh..." he muttered, then reached back and pulled out Nicole.

Sally's first reaction was joy over the fact that Nicole hadn't been lost entirely, but she cringed upon seeing, hearing, and smelling just how much damage the PDA had taken. "Oh, Nicole... She's pretty messed up." The princess tried a couple of times to run one or two simple programs, but the computer had a hard time even with the small tasks, and in the end she closed the monitor. "She needs a lot of work, but she can wait. We still have to get Tails." Sally directed the hover unit back to the base, hoping they could blend in a bit with the other traffic, as her expression hardened a bit. Nicole tended to be an important element in a lot of their missions. Working without her was definitely going to be tough.

"Not without Nicole, I can't," the princess replied, looking at him suspiciously out of the corner of her eye. "Dare I even ask what prompts you to ask me that?"

"Because Robotnik ordered that tin plated copy of mine to Little Planet to kidnap someone else. Some close to some sort of guardian. We've gotta try and stop it."

"Someone else?" Sally put the hover unit on auto pilot and began typing away at one of the keyboards. "Luckily the Swatbots already logged in before you got here... Otherwise I'd need Nicole to access this information. Now let's see..." Sally pulled up a list of what looked like dates and times on the dashboard monitor. "This is the list of announcements that have been sent out to all units. Maybe there's something in here that'll help us." One by one, Sonic and Sally listened to the announcements from that day. Many of them were for small, menial tasks, but there were two of particular interest: One ordering all units to be on extra guard while "the fox" was transported to Little Planet, the other announcing that Metal Sonic had been activated and ordering all units to disregard him, despite his resemblence to the "priority one hedgehog". The princess resumed control of the aircraft and pulled up on the wheel. "Well, looks like we're heading to Little Planet no matter what."
