And without missing a beat, Athair nodded. "Well, if he did hurt your arm, the least I could do is make sure it isn't permanent."

After a preparatory breath, the lizard carefully pushed himself upright, and eventually into a sitting position at the elder's side. "Nah," he answered, "it's just sore. See?" Making himself visible for the demonstration, Espio proceeded to flex and bend his arm in whatever ways it would naturally bend.

Unfortunately... Athair had dealt with a great deal of stubborn patients. Which translated into he'd seen every trick in the book... Including this one. So, with a hardly noticable flick of movement, Athair had caught hold of Espio's left wrist. "I wasn't concerned about your elbow, or your shoulder."

"H-Hey!!" Espio yelped, unable to keep the alarm from his voice. He leaned his weight backwards in an attempt to jerk loose. "Let go!!"

Athair just let him lean back, as this straightened the chameleon's arm out so he could get a good look, which he would have asked him to do anyway. "Espio, you and I both know something is wrong with your arm. And I want to help you. So hold still." So, he began to VERY carefully apply pressure to Espio's forearm, just enough that he could feel any difference in the tissue. Although he hoped this wouldn't hurt Espio, but he couldn't be sure just yet.

"STOPSTOPSTOP!!" the boy shrieked, beginning to kick and claw for his freedom. Even the gentlest of prods felt like a knife through his flesh. "LET GOOOOOO!!" he miserably wailed. At the return of the ruckus, Tikal turned to glance at the two, and frowned pensively. He's really not having a good day... Her gaze then turned to her father, briefly. I... I hope Father didn't hurt him...

Almost immediately, Athair stopped his poking, pulling that hand back, but didn't release Espio's wrist, and simply nodded. "Hm. More sensitive than I expected. ... You have bruising reaching deep in the muscle. If you'll let me, I can help you, at least enough that it won't hurt as much. But you'll need to keep from using that arm as much until it recovers. Or at least stop whatever's been causing the bruising."

Despite his look of uncertainty, Espio's struggling died off. "You... can do that?" he asked slowly. He had wanted Cyril to do something similar back home, but had never gotten the opportunity before the incident. Some relief would definitely be nice. ... Then again, it was getting increasingly strange that some random old fart was taking such an interest in him. Still, even a stubborn teenager could accept needed help, especially when it's offered. Though his wariness lingered, the chameleon slowly nodded. "...Sure."

With a nod, the elder released Espio's wrist, and stood. "I will return shortly. I need to collect some things for your arm." And the echidna headed off into the forest, but was still within view.

Of course, seeing that Espio had been hurt didn't help things with the last member of the group that was watching thing. "Geez, what'd you do that for!?" Manic demanded of Pachy, "I know he was wigging out and all, but, like, you didn't have to hurt him!"

Glaring down at the considerably shorter hedgehog, Pachacamac growled slightly. "I didn't grab him any harder than I grabbed you." ... ignorant spiny vermin...

" Manic!" Tikal whisper-shouted urgently, making a slicing motion at her neck. Turning back to her father, the priestess put on the brightest, but still clearly anxious, smile she could muster. "Father... Um, why don't you just have a seat? And then I can make you a nice snack to eat while you relax??"

"Hmmph, jerk," Manic muttered, but let up at Tikal's insistance, returning to his place by the fire for now.

Fortunately, Athair chose that moment to return to the campsite, grinding various plants' leaves and blossoms into a cloth in one hand, with the heel of the other hand, his cane hooked over one arm. Every few moments, he would add a little water from a pouch on his belt that he kept just for such things, meaning it was most likely still pure. Sitting near the chameleon, the elder motioned for him to hold out his arm. When the younger thrope did, albeit with no little amount of fussing and reluctancy, Athair carefully, but tightly wrapped the cloth around his arm. Making sure the mixed herbs pressed against the deeply bruised portion of the forest-dweller's arm, the elder nodded, satisfied with his work. "It will take some time for it to work, but once it does, you'll know."

Though grateful for the aid, Espio's face pulled into a frown, and he immediately shook his arm and picked at the cloth bandage. "It's too tight... Can't it be looser?"

Shaking his head, the echidna watched Espio fiddle with the bandage, which he was confident wouldn't come loose. "I'm afraid not. It'll loosen on its own."

"But it huuurts..." the chameleon whined, his posture slumping.

Letting out another frustrated groan, the teenager conceded with an unconvinced, "Fiiiiine...." yet at the same time did not stop fussing with the wrapping around his arm.

Leaving Espio to his devices, the elder turned to the other (conscious) thropes in the campsite. "We need to begin planning for tomorrow. If everyone could come over here."

While unsatisfied that her father was placated, Tikal obediently made her way to the Elder as instructed, taking a seat in the dirt and hugging her knees. At the same time, the chameleon searched for his backpack. After all, he wasn't going to be involved with the group's plans for the next day, right? Right?

Having not yet sat down since his earlier... 'attack', the larger echidna approached, waiting for the Elder to continue.

Breaking off his glar at Paccy, Manic got up and moved over to join the group, sitting down next to Tikal, of course.

Espio's search would be brought short by a hand coming to rest on his shoulder. A hand belonging to the elderly echidna next to him... who had a surprisingly strong grip. "First of all... I would suggest that Manic AND Espio guide us to Meadowood, since they both know the terrain better than we do, they could cover gaps in the other's knowledge." Athair paused, glancing down at the chameleon who was, no doubt, about to protest. "And once we reach Meadowood, Espio may, if he still chooses, leave our group again."

The chameleon had opened his mouth with an argument at the ready, but the aging echidna's footnote quickly silenced him. Espio blinked in surprise. "You mean... I don't have to go back?" Athair simply shook his head. A smile crossed the reptile's face. "Well sure! I can show you the way! I owe you that much for food and making me medicine!" "This is great!" Tikal gleefully whispered to Manic. "I was getting worried he'd be out here all by himself again!"

Manic snorted. "He would have come back by himself eventually. Gramps just, like, lets us skip the 'cold and hungry' phase of it."

Pachacamac cared very little about the chameleon's drama, and instead diverted his attention to look back to the camp, more particularly, the unconscious wolverine. While he was the strongest, and most likely capable of carrying the comatose boy, he still wasn't that fond of having to toting around a... fleabag.

"Well, with that settled..." The elder trailed off for a moment. "We need to begin preparing to head out. I would like to leave as soon as possible but... I imagine most, if not all of us are tired. We will head out at first light tomorrow." Athair glanced around at those assembled (that were conscious), and continued. "Which means we need to pack as much as we can tonight. And Pachacamac, you'll need to figure out the easiest way you can find to carry Crash for as long as possible." The wolverine, as if sensing Pachacamac's opinion of him, growled weakly, but audibly in his sleep. Even if he couldn't possibly be aware of his surroundings in this state, the timing was... convenient.
