Meanwhile, Tikal clutched the green hedgehog's shoulders and shrank further behind her meat shield protector.

The standoff would be interrupted by Athair reentering the camp, having left for what her thought would be a short period of time as he gathered some of a plant referred to most commonly as 'dullweed'. It had ONE use, when brewed into a tea. And seeing how Tikal was acting around Manic, it would be best to get some of the tea into her system now. But all this left his mind as he looked over the group, and blinked. Espio was missing, and Manic seemed to be facing off with Pachacamac. Then... he coughed. Loudly.

... Which Pachacamac didn't seem to notice, as he was far too busy staring down Manic.

And Manic just looked right back, now giving him a 'what' look, like he didn't know why he was glaring at him. "Hey, gramps, what'cha got?" he asked Athair.

Raising an eyebrow at the 'gramps' comment, Athair nodded towards Tikal. "Plants for a tea for Tikal."

Just as engrossed in the stand-off, the female echidna's grip remained locked on Manic's shoulders, and her attention only wavered in the wake of the fact that she'd heard her name. Sending a questioning glance toward her grandfather, Tikal asked, "...For me?"

Well, that caught his attention. Turning to the elder, Pachacamac quirked a brow. "For Tikal? What for?"

"Cause...she likes tea?" Manic suggested. He was a tad curious himself, but only superficially. He hated tea himself, so he didn't really care that Athair was only giving it to her.

Athair nodded in answer to the other two echidnas, simply accepting Manic's comment. "It occurred to me that there's a fever going around, and that as the rest of us are hardy enough to resist it, from my experience, it would be good to boost Tikal's chances at resisting it herself. Yes. A fever. That was believable.

Finally stepping away from Manic's protection, Tikal took in the elder's words and nodded. "I think I might have already caught it, actually; I keep having really sudden, fleeting fevers the last couple of days. Maybe I caught it after I fell in the river."

Well, that worked out perfectly, since he suspected the cause of those fleeting 'fevers'... but he was -very- surprised she didn't have suspicions of her own. Or simply called him on it. Because he very much doubted she was just playing along. It seemed... he had some explaining to do to his granddaughter. This would be awkward. But more pressing issues first. "Then I should get this tea brewed quickly. If you get it in your system quickly enough, it should catch it before it gets worse. Do we have any water left?" He glanced around, checking for an answer to his own question. "Once I've gotten this brewed, we'll head for Meadowood." He'd worry about Espio but... Crash was in worse condition, and he could find the chameleon later... or speak to someone in the village who could.
